416/M101cdn Body Lift/Raised Fenders?

Given that the shape of 416/101cdn trailers used in the US make for an upper limit as to how much tire clearance can be had I wonder, has anyone done a "body lift" by spacing the tub up from the frame?

I can't quite tell, but in this pic of tacochaser's (from this thread) it looks like this is exactly what he or someone might have done:

On the M101CDN there is no separate frame. The only component that can be unbolted is the A frame up front and fenders.

Moving the fenders up should be possible with some cutting. It will give you a little more clearance for a larger diameter tire but will do nothing for width.

M416 is about the only one you could do it with. I like the idea AT has with the fuel storage. Realistically though all you have to do is a SOA. Instant 4" of lift. I am actually considering lowering my fenders after I flipped my axle.

Also his trailer is an AT chaser,,
If you want clearance,, you can do a SOA,, but before that,, I recommend if its an old 416 getting a new set of springs, it will raise it up a couple inches,, or better yet,, get a 2.5" lift spring from early(pre 75) cj5, or cj2a cj3a,, and you will have more than enough room.. Also remove the fenders.. mount your tires then check to see what you need fenderwise.. If you mounted up a set of longer fenders you would be better off, most likely.. check out the fenders AT has,, they are pricey,, but really nice..

How big of tires are you thinking?

I had lots of room after the springover for 35s and have swapped them to 9R16s which are a little taller.

Any bigger and I'd want to snip off the lower vertical portion of the fender but then I'd think 40s would probably fit. You don't need much clearance on a trailer since it doesn't articulate

I built these fenders for my M-416. When I was building them the trailer was empty. I have not mounted them yet, but I am worried that they will not have enough clearance after the trailer is loaded. Spring over would put the trailer too high.
