A buddy of mine, yes a big man and so far the kermit chair is the only one I can find that has a large weight rating and looks a little comfortable for someone of his size.

Whats a "kermit" chair? frogs only? or is it green? please advise.

I found one right where you would expect...walmart:sombrero: I think it was only rated to 400, but the thing is stout, wide, slightly reclined, and did I mention wide? My girlfriend and I can sit side by side on this chair almost comfortably. Both of us together dont hit the 300lb mark, but it was plenty stable at that.

Hi there,

I am the owner of Campaign furniture company and I designed the Overland chair with a larger person in mind! 450lbs fits that bill! I have double layers of canvas on the seat bottom and tig welded aluminum brackets. The width of the of the seat is 18.25 inches wide. I have had a 360 lb friend sit in the chair with no deflection of wood or metal! I would be willing to bet 450 would work to! But maybe put a crash pad under the first time used...ok bad joke!
Check out my site www.campaignfurniturecompany.com and feel free to call with any questions you may have. Plus I could design a larger version as well.

Cheers,
Andy

Andy, there have been many threads on this forum with how absolutely beautiful your chairs are. What I have not ever seen is a picture of them in the stowed condition. How big are they packed down and ready to travel, what do they weight? How are they stowed? Does it require your camp box/table product to house them?

Here is a photograph of the chair and one of it broken down. Weight is 12 pounds. It comes in a nice canvas bag that is 30" long. It has round ends that are 8" but the chair fits very loosely inside. Actually measurement is closer to 30" x 9" x 6"

I hope to do a review of this chair in a few days. So far I have been really impressed with its overall build quality and comfort.

To the original poster I would highly recommend calling Andy at the Campaign furniture Company. You might just get a chair to test out!!!

Thanks Justin!
Your pictures are great! Your hired!

Hey Nwoods,

There are some pics coming soon of the chair unassembled to the site! I actually re-designed the bag to be a roll for the chair. Each piece will have it's own slot to fit in. Then you can also use the roll layed flat to assemble the chair on dirt. It will keep the chair looking sharp for alot longer. Stay tuned many more changes coming to make it even better!

I love your chairs, they're a work of art. They're not really wide enough though and the price is really far out of his range from what he's told me.

I will forward your site to him and thanks for the info.

The picture of the broken down chair may mislead. It's not near as bulky when packed as it looks all spread out in the photo. Also it comes apart instread of folding up ridgid. Your able to squirm it in tight when packing with other gear vs being so ridgid like a folded chair. For serious space saving the parts could be seperated and spead out to a few areas that you do have room in. I bet I could get a chair in my head ach rack that way. It's not as long as the aluminium chairs when apart either. I'll pack mine up and snap photos next to the other chairs I have if you need me too.

I've been on the hunt for just what you mentioned (though for my wife and I - not 1 person). The only one I've found has the worst reviews I've ever read for a consumer product

Stansport Apex Double Chair on Amazon.com

Looks like there's a Kelty brand version on Amazon now - no reviews

we had a costco double chair for about 8 years. Kirkland or kelty, etc. It was very strurdy and finally bit the dust recently

:)( sad, really. end of an era for us, we took it everywhere: montana, alaska, mtns, beaches...)

If you look at a camp pic of my wife and I, in the last decade, we are likely sitting in those chairs. We have a nice set
of coleman chairs to replace them, which are working great, but not quite the same...:)

Now this has been an education...what a great forum - excellent contributions! I had no idea there were so many reasonable choices. Pretty hard to argue with the MaxxDaddy @ 130$ & 26" wide.http://www.koolestproducts.com/p-17-maxxdaddy-giant-folding-chair.aspx

Ain't capitalism great!Peter

I agree wholeheartedly. I had no idea I'd get so many responses. I really appreciate it and it shows the ExPo spirit.
