First off... I am glad I found this. Ever since seeing a wildernest and a flippac I had plans to fit it on my 4runner. Seeing this has helped me realize how possible it is.
That said, I am in the process of doing mine. I plan to start my own build tread but I thought id share a little bit here and like "OutThereRecordings" I am interested if there are any updates. Did the fiberglass hold up? What would you do differently? Etc.
My wildernest has the different window setup but otherwise is essentially the same. I too plan to use the mounting surface from the stock hard top in the front, but plan to thicken the bed rail mounting surface with plywood coated in fiberglass. My reason is to ensure a sealed surface and to have the cleanest "stock" look as possible. I also hate the truck topper rear flip up rear window and will be sad to see my roll-up function go away, so I thought why not keep the window track part of the stock topper too! Since they angle different ways I plan to utilize what is left by making a shelf on the inside. I cut out the window last weekend and plan to dabble with the fiberglass today. I got HD fiberglass sheets, but I like the idea of plaster type chicken wire. ...anyway...cheers for Wildernest 4runners!
