Hey War, glad to hear you got the transmission in and running almost like you want it to. Its a cool conversion and something that I will be very interested in hearing about your opinions and views. Cheers, Chilli..:)

Just read this thread front to back and must say I admire your dedication and attention to detail. Your engine/trans problems remind me a little about the rx7 guys trying to get good numbers from their rotaries and then just throwing in the towel and going with a v8 after a few blown motors.

Welcome Gab. Cool to see another Vancouver guy here....:wings:

Got it calmed down and shifting perfect now, they kept telling me move the line up on the graph to soften it, but turns out for some reason I moved it down and it got softer. Lol, my wife remapped my transmission for me while driving home from the store, just told her what to do and then she hit save and I slowed down then speed back up and walaa new shift profile was awesome. Loving this set up for sure, now to start hooking up the other temp sender and switch then set up the tow mode and shift profile and hook up the toggle switch for that and boom all done for a few days....

And as it turns out I did have the lines swapped at the auxiliary filter, just switched them so will see if it runs cooler tomorrow when I take about a 150 mile trip to look at a VW Bug I might buy to use as my daily driver. Oh and when I pulled the pressure line off it squirted oil out of the filter for a second and made a poof noise, so yeah even with the truck off for a full day it did not bleed off the pressure!

Well the bug was a bust, but swapping the lines did the trick, the brain never got over 160* and the gauge was right at 150* so I am happy with that. When I atopped I got out and checked and the aux filter was nice and hot so every thing is working as it should be!!

Also looks like I might be taking Subzila on a 2000 mile xmas vacation to Albuquerque and back, gotta look at the differance between fuel cost and renting a vehicle for a week. I think it has to be cheaper to just take the Burb, not to mention just more comfortable and satisfying being in my own vehicle. Would need to buy a radio and a CB right away and get it all installed before the trip but that is stuff I want anyway.

The trans is doing great, makes the truck seem very smooth and goes down the road with no effort at all, can cruise at 80MPH and is turning just 2200, and anytime I want to pass someone on the two lane roads it does it very easy, dont even need to put it on the floor just give it about half throttle and away it goes. Most of the time I am not even 1/4 throttle while cruising. I think this was money very well spent!

Just curious War, did you have to buy a computer to set up your transmission? I know nothing about these modern engines and trans. I am an old school guy that learned to set points and rebuild carbs..:ylsmoke:

yep, just very small stand alone that only controls the transmission and nothing else. Very simple to hook up and program.

Today on the way to work was checking the rpm drop when the lock up kicks in, and in 4th gear when it locks it drops about 600 RPM. Running down the hwy at 58-60 Mph I am rumbling along at 1600 RPM. Gas milage went up just a bit on this tank 10.16, just gotta say I really love having this trans!!

Wicked War!:Wow1: I am going to need some detailed info at some point in time in the long and far away future when I get myself into a transmission like that...

Picked up a bug finally, got a lot of work to do on it to make it road ready but it's in my driveway now. Got it for 2300 and my 05 raptor 350 ATV as a trade. Think it was a fair deal, the engine runs good it seems for now so will just go with it and use the rest of the budget to get the rolling chassis how I want it then work on more power.

Subzila towed just fine for it's first towing road trip, think it dropped me back down a tad on the milage but not by much. Got all the way up to 10.77 on the tank before the trip and will get gas today and see what it did. The trans stayed right around 160* tempature the whole time and did not seem to care I was pulling a trailer, but of course it was very light anyway.

As for the bug, I think after I get a lot done on it, I am gonna take a trip to Alaska in it, so it's gonna be a expidition type build, might even have to rebuild my trailer for some more space. The bug will have a much higher tow rating than my motorcycle did and that is the trailer I will pull behind it, which has a good amout of room but could use more for sure.

Front tire looks a little leaning out. Is this an axle issue, or just an optical illusion? Or did you just turn in, and tire is being pushed to the right? Just curious, as I didn't think that the angles of the hub could lean at all when tires are oriented straight ahead on a SFA.

Just the way it look in the pic with some shadows and stuff, I think it is turned just a hair to the right as well but not leaning out as it appears.
