87 Chevy crew cab pickup, long slow project

yes, bed was originally 9', chopped down to 6'. Wheelbase was shortened about 18" and the rear shackle hangers are at the very end of the frame.

A 9' Bed? I didn't think they ever made beds 9' on any civilian trucks. News to me. I did some Google searching and only see 8' beds. Was this a special tow truck or something of that nature?

9' flatbed was installed by the previous owner. Truck came from the factory with the standard 8' dually bed.

Yep, I know....too bad really. These trucks are almost impossible to find.

my dad just scrapped one - it was in perfect shape, but he tried everything to sell it and no one wanted it at any price... so the motor was sold to a friend who built a gasser (BBC), and the rest went to the scrapper $800.

i like this truck, i am/was planning on building a crew cab next year and dropping a 5.3L into it, but right now im waiting to hear back from a guy with a crew that has a 12V swapped in.
