93 RRC - Help! Battery light on/car off

Just replaced bad alternator that was pushing 17 volts. Is the new one failing? After starting/driving great for a couple hours dash/headlights seemed dim, then battery light came on when I turned the car off. Stays on with key out. Difficult restart, then nothing. Let it sit, then it started again, but died after headlights turned on. Alternator? Diodes? Ground? Pretty sure the battery is good.

There is a possibility the Alternator also came bad, particularly as you describe it does not appear to be charging. The battery could also be damaged by alternator perhaps?

Bosch remans are absolute junk. So probably another bad alternator.

My '94 RRC with gas V8 is going to be needing an alternator in its near future. What options are out there for consideration?

Thx.

If your battery was showing 17v I would be suspicious of the regulator/alternator. It's possible one of them was bad which caused the battery to fail. By only changing the battery and leaving the bad alternator/regulator, you may have just killed the new battery.

Always a good idea to check them together when you suspect one so you don't end up going in circles. Hopefully the battery will be warrantable if it is indeed bad.
