Found a 95 disco one for sale..haven't talked to owner yet just saw it on craigslist.
Has bfg all terrains with 80% tread.
I am looking for a vehicle to probably make some suspension mods to and go on local trails..not worry about stuff going wrong all the time..does the 95 have anything crazy to worry about like air suspension or any of that stuff? I've heard of cooling issues? I want as little electronics as possible..I will find out more info tomorrow..
Thanks guys

94 and 95 are the best years for discovery in my opinion. The 3.9 does not suffer from the same issues as the 4.0 and 4.6. Other than rust, there is not much that cannot be fixed cheaply enough (at least in rover terms). If it runs well and does not leak too much you can get good reliable service out of one with just maintaince. Cooling issue are usually neglect related or simple wear parts (water pump, viscous fan coupler -- both of which can be replaced for under $150 for the pair).

Take the rear springs, but them in the front and get a set of OME medium duty springs for the back and you have a nice 1.5in lift (if you must lift it) and fit 235 85 R16 on the stock wheels and you have a good cheap set up.

I'd echo the above comments, good years for the Disco if you don't mind a little troubleshooting with the issues you may run into. Rust being the biggest killer, past that mechanically they are simple and the beauty of the 94/95 is the electronics are minimal.

If unfamiliar with Rovers take a look through this (I'd read both the Disco and Range Rover Classic portions as mechanically you're going to find similarity even if the sheet metal is different)

Good luck, and if you grab it throw some pics up!

My first D1 had 440,000 kms on it when it went on to its' next owner. Except for a couple of vacuum advances, just general maintenance. I never had to replace head gaskets. Oil changes religiously every 5000 kms and if it's fairly rust free, Rust Check every year. I've had a P38 and a D2 since selling my old 95 but I'm back in a 97 again now. :)

I loved my 95. But it had been heavily abused before I got it, so I was getting worn down constantly fixings other's past mistakes.

Vehicle is around 175k. Seller knows rovers in and out and has changed alll fluids, flushed radiator and replaced fan clutch with a severe duty one..it doenst leak any oil at all he says..Seller clearly knows his rovers l. He has 5 and works on them himself..I talked him down to a reasonable price and I am going to look at it tonigh

My 1995 has been essentially trouble-free, with the exception of a failed fuel pump. It also helps that it barely has 90,000 miles on it too.

Great year for a Disco.

yup, my favorite year, though you do have to actually do maintenance on the ignition system periodically where I've had great luck completely ignoring those parts on my GEMS vehicles.

94 discovery and i am very happy with it .
The 14cux is reliable and truble free and if the alarm jams all you have to bypass the relay in the passenger kick panel and it starts again

Post up some pictures.

Generally rovers owned by rover people tend to be well cared for as we all know what goes wrong and tend to do our best to prevent the inevitable.
