A bug I can't quite get out!

You have no idea how much I would love to explore Canada using my own vehicle! Apparently it is really cold back home as well. These Aussie cockroaches wouldn't stand a chance in cold like that. They would bolt at the first mention of the word cold. Ha, maybe I'll ship it over and customs can clean my car for me. They wouldn't even let it in!

You know, if this is a big problem in Oz, somebody could probably make a good living with "all natural, non-chemical pest elimination" by having a big drive-through freezer that they would rent out. Remove all liquids from the vehicle, make sure the anti-freeze is topped off, then drive the vehicle into the freezer. Leave it there overnight with the temp set at -40c and next day, drive it out with all pests now dead. And no chemical residue, either. ;)

Until the sun hits the glass and things go all explody on folks.

funky problem, no thank you. You can keep the roaches!

I would think all the other citters in Oz would take care of them. Spiders don't eat them?

On on the topic of Aussie spiders. I imported a truck from Oz in 2012. Tearing it down, I found a big nasty Hunstman spider. Good thing it was dead! The one thing about Oz I am not a fan of, all the nasty critters!

Cheers

Actually there is a fix. Disconnect the battery and remove to power down all electricals and heat the entire car to 140°F. It has to be held at that temp for 8 hours. This will kill all the devils and all of their eggs. This process is used in food plants with an infestation or as a preventative as a totally non toxic way of killing all bugs in an area. We used to do this where I worked and you would see absolutely no insect activity for a considerable period of time. We had to heat until the interior of the walls reached temp and hold it there. A small garage and a couple of stout heaters might work. The key for a 100% kill is maintaining it at the required temp for 8 hours.
