I found this to be a great 2 part series concerning digital sensors and very informative. Once you arrive at the sight scroll down and the first(2nd part) will read "The Digital Sensor: Part 2" but scroll further down until you see "The Digital Sensor:A Guide to Understanding Digital Cameras" http://www.anandtech.com/digitalcameras/
