Looks like the 2009 Tacoma will offer an optional backup camera. The Access Cab will have a redesigned back seat with more storage space. And the Standard Cab will have a bench seat only.

Well that's a bummer. Looks like they are adding some stuff to the Access cabs that would have been very useful to me.

That's kind of a bad place on a truck to have the backup camera though. On the handle for the tailgate...?

I guess Toyota does pay attention to the forums/modders. The Black headlight mod has been one of the most popular changes for these trucks; now you get it that way from the factory.

The nice thing about putting the backup camera in the tailgate is that it would be unaffected by adding an aftermarket bumper.

Yes I like the black headlight thing since I plan on doing this to mine at some point, the camera in the tailgate is a great thing, until you get a aftermarket swingout bumper or you need to haul stuff with the tailgate down. I would have liked it in the bumper which I am sure would be easier to relocate into an aftermarket bumper then relocating the camera from the tailgate into an aftermarket bumper.

grrr, they need to make a retro fit kit now...or some sort of upgrade you can have the dealer do.

If it's a whole new system, so I'm not sure about swapping being all that easy.
