Perpetual Transient
My wife Alexia and I snuck off early last Friday morning to go spend some time poking around the San Rafael Swell. Neither of us had spent any time there prior other then buzzing through that cool part of I70 that drops through it from the west.
We solicited some advice from some of the folks in the know on ExPo and thanks to Kurt and a couple of others and their links had a good feeling for what we wanted to do. We were going to start on the south end and work our way north. No rigid itinerary, just wanted to see some cool scenery, relax a bit at camp and unwind. We brought our dog Madi and loaded up the Disco and drove into some STIFF headwinds early Friday morning leaving Evergreen. This was to be the theme for the weekend, wind, wind, dust, and more wind. It became our mission to find some protection from it, but even in what you think would be the most protected place, rogue gusts would blast in without warning and with much force.
I have only the photos uploaded off my phone and a couple of randoms I snapped with my camera. The brunt of the images are going to be coming as I am waiting for Lex to pull them off her D50 still. Anyway, more pictures and less words.
The view crossing over Wild Horse Mesa
We took a wrong turn at the fork and ended up on Mars
The San Rafael desert was exploding with flowers
A cool old structure along Muddy Creek.
Alex packing up camp. Getting an early start on the day before sunrise.
