Nice photos. About the only thing I miss about living in the Northeast. That and touring historic battlefields / sites.

AA1PR, I've been reading through your thread and I must give you props for all the work you've done to your rig. Keeping up with the rust would drive me mad. I absolutely love how involved your kids are with working on it as well.

With regards to your winch, have you used it much since you got it and how has it performed? Any issues? I'm starting to look at different winches and want to get some real world feedback. The one you have is on my short list for the price and the warranty as well as the synthetic rope.

I might have to pick your brain again later for when I run some antenna cable for my HAM.

Cheers!

Sir,
living in the rust belt sure has its problem
I've only used the winch to pre-load and then again to test it up our inclined dirt road the whole length of the cable
its a powerhouse I must say
no problem on ham gear etc, it'd be an honor
I'll check out your build thread too

on a side note...

I was picking on my son via Instagram today

he started off with a flex comment, I had to laugh

& then he wheeled an old trail I havent down in years over in Middletownsprings (yes its a long name)

me & Jr went exploring a trail I never got to include in the gmc4x4 event back in 2013

I followed Mikie in case, so I could tow him back & then thought what if I get stuck I dont think his jeep could hold me as an anchor

anyways it was fun, my rigs covered in mud & his looks fine, I rolled over obstacles while he had to work the jeep to get over them etc

though the scenery was pleasant today, it was bone chilling cold out

video to follow

Got the new ram mount for my old Delorme PN 20 finally installed, I installed Topo 7.0 on it
Mounted it on the center console where it can still see the sky but is not blocking my field of view when driving

AA1PR, I am looking at front winch mounting options an was wondering how you mounted yours. I seem to recall you did a Curtis front hitch and flipped the mount upside down so that it would be higher? Thanks for any insight.

Cheers!

Yes thats exactly what I did
Bushcoat gave me the idea
the only issue is that it might not clear the bumper, hence my slight trimming to get it to recess into the slot
& I added chains off to the side over to the tow hooks to help tighten it down
there is no movement in it as it ought to be

Decided I wanted to hide another geocache up in the mountains

so off I went to a spot I scoped out on the delorme topo program

I decided it was going to be a guardrail cache, these seem to be popular among the geocachers

I then did some sight seeing on a trail I wanted to do during the 2013 GMC4x4.com Tour, the road was snow covered and loaded with ice underneath the rig keep wanting to slide its rear over the crown of the road and into the snow banks, but got some good shots off the cell I thought

Hey AA1PR, KF5VGJ here again. I wanted to ask you where you ran your wires for the lights on your roof rack. I'm mounting about 6 lights plus a light bar and haven't really figured out what route to run the wires to the engine bay (where I'll put the relays). With that many lights, the group of wires will be thick, and I'm doubtful I can be discreet about where I run them. Appreciate any info and/or pics. Thanks!

ordered 2 of these overland ham decals last week from ~ http://www.hamdecals.com
Mine arrived today, hassle free transaction
great communication and design
decals look very impressive, now for warmer VT weather so I can get them installed
not sure if I'll place one on each side or just the rear of the Yukon & the rear of the M416
highly recommended !
