made mistake where I posted so reposting here in correct forum, sorry.

I am excited by this picture of forum member Jeffrey and his FE with a slide in camper mounted to the flatbed:

My question is, how does he access the engine? Is it relatively simple to remove the camper or tilt it up enough to flip the cab? How often would one need to get at the engine...would this get old in a hurry? I am considering a used 2004 Fuso FE with 18 foot flatbed (18,000 GVWR) with low miles. I would maybe go with the S&S camper that Jeffrey did and leave the additional flatbed room as an outdoor garage for our dual sport motorcycles.

It looks like they used a 4 cylinder with 175hp/347ft-lb in 2004, which is just fine http://www.mitfuso.com/Content/Docum...Sheet_2004.pdf

Thanks for the compliment. The camper has electric jacks and it only takes a couple of minutes to raise it and drive ahead enough to tilt the cab. I only tilt the cab about once a year when changing the oil. With the scooter on the back it takes a little longer since you can't drive out from under the camper without unloading the scooter first. We did this once at a dealer while getting an oil change, just pulled into the service bay, rolled the scooter off, lowered the jacks, and drove ahead. It took less than 5 minutes. By the way I picked up another Fuso today. I was riding the Amtrak from La Crosse, WI to Bellingham when I suddenly decided to get off in Sandpoint, ID and continue the journey in a 1991 FG tow truck :

Nice tow truck. See pictures of my truck for another option on the slide in camper. I used a service body and didn't extend the camper over the ca.

Nice! The main reason we want to extend the camper over the cab is to have a permanent bed (I am tallish 6'6"). Yes it is very annoying to have to jack up the camper 11 inches to clear the cab swing, but I think for our situation it is worth doing the design like that.
