1st gen runner owners don't want to spend 1500 on a bumper plus ship for a 1000 vehicle. Bumper company's dont profit selling one a year. Therefore no plate option for 1st gen unless you go custom. Usually better this way.

Brownie enjoying the sun at Cruise Moab 2015. The Dual Swing Out Bumper performed perfectly and definitely was put to the test!

I like the look of that set up there. I'm assuming if you run a smaller tire it won't cover as much of the tail light, yeah?

Also, I tow a trailer. Are the hitches rated and safe to use for towing?

37" spare is as big as you can go without covering the taillight but it does cover part of the back up light. Our hitch is the same as class 3 rating but is not dot rated.

I live on marlin crawler and trail gear country. Every 1st I see are trashed. Most people with 1st gen can't justify spending $1500 per bumper

It's easier to buy $1500 bumpers for a $30k taco or newer runner.

I justify it because mines actually clean and I don't have kids. 1st gen is not replaceable so metal bumpers and sliders are top on my list. ARB bumper was $8-900
Rear bumper with duel swing out ran me over a grand.

My 04 tundra just got armored up a little after a year of buying it used. Again mainly protection from other drivers.

What's the price range for this? I've been considering a rear swing out and protection. Haven't made up my mind as of yet. What makes this better than others?

Price for the rear bumper with dual swing outs is $1995, same as pictured on my truck. The passenger sides comes with the spare tire mount and you have 3 choices for the drivers side, ice chest mount like mine, or dual 5 gallon Jerry can mount or 3 roto pax fuel can mount (9 gallons total)

Some of the benefits of the dual swing out over a single swing out are;

Less leverage on the bumper when the swing outs are open.
on a single swing out there is so much weight and leverage on the single pivot that drops of 3 to 4" are not uncommon on some of the swing outs on the market when you open them. This does not happen on our dual swing out system because you have half the weight and leverage on each spindle. No vibration and rattles from our dual swing outs because of our heavy duty cam latches and 4140 chromoly spindles that pivot inside of the bumper rather than on top of the bumper.
With the dual system the swing out only sticks out half as far when open, not much more than the tailgate itself, so it makes it much easier walking around the truck when set up in camp.

You will also be able to purchase this bumper without the swing outs and add 1 or both at anytime down the road.

Just ordered

Glad to see you folks have a build thread for this truck. Just ordered an Apex bumper for my 3rd gen 4Runner that I can't wait to get painted and mounted. Thanks to Curtis, Tracy and Adrien!
