The more I drive my beast, the higher the sound-proofing project is moving up the priority list. Are you planning on putting foam or MLV on top of the FatMat?
While you have it all open like that I would suggest you pull the turbo up pipes and wrap them and the down pipe. Change the donuts/gaskets while you are at it. ($7 per gasket versus $175 to replace each pipe)
Toucan also get some insulation kits for the turbo that would help reduce the heat in the cab and possibly lower the turbo whine.
Then again where you live maybe you want the heat in the cab.

My plan is to actually wrap the entire cab area (floor, ceiling, doghouse, door skin...) in FatMat then add 1/2" high density foam (won't absorb water). Just like a bunch of you guys have already done...
I'll also look into wrapping the pipes and changing the gaskets. I wasn't planing on doing this so I'll have to research it, this engine is still very new to me!
Btw, what is Toucan?
I'm pasting a post of yours that you had on my former Ambo thread as its full of good info and parts numbers...
Run your fingers around the join in the up pipes and see if there is any soot. If there is soak the crap out of the bolts/nuts with PB Blast or some other penetrating oil and then replace the gaskets. They are about $6 for genuine or $3 for the chev ones that fit.<br />

Sometimes you hit the jack spot... Check the twins I got for dirt cheap today! I'll either open/clean them up myself or bring them to a good shop I know nearby that specializes in servicing these units. Probably safer that way. One is a D4 and the other one is a D5 (keeper). Not sure what I'll do with the smaller one but that's the least of my worries for now.
I've been hunting for ever for one of these and just like the ambulance I got two at once, scary!
