Which company makes these straps? having a hard time finding them. thanks
Are you asking about the straps in this post?: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/150320-Ammo-can-idea-thread?p=2003199#post2003199

Those straps aren't on the market, a company made them up special for me to test. It's a company that specializes in straps, cargo nets and similar things; I've worked with them in the past on several projects for other companies that have become production products, so they know me and when I asked if they'd make up a few samples for me for this project they were happy to help out.

This idea is from XJSuperman (http://www.expeditionportal.com/for...-can-idea-thread/page12?p=1990464#post1990464), I just decided to do an illustration of his idea... an 81mm is the right length so that one could mount under each side of a trailer frame with the lid facing outward.

Or you could take two 120mm cans, cut the bottoms off both, and weld them together so you end up with a can with lids on both ends that just long enough to span under the entire frame.

Thats exactly right. I will be using 2 of the 81mm cans, one on each side because I cannot clear the trailer tongue to weld them together for a "through box". A wider trailer will need 120mm cans. My trailer is 48" wide at max, so the 81mm cans, plus a couple inches for the tongue works out almost perfectly. Im mounting mine on the front side of the wheels, to help with balance and clearance. Might put a spare tire on the backside underneath.

Love the seat belt buckle concept....

Yeah, me too. The strap company had a booth at an RV industry trade show I went to in December and I saw the miniature seat belt buckle in their booth - that's when I asked them if they'd make up some samples for me to test, I thought the seat belt was very cool and probably very useful for this application.

I've posted a couple photos of my 60mm can. Since last time I painted it black, installed the locking stud and finally got my lock set up. It took some looking to find just the right lock, ended up going with American Lock who is a sub company of Master Lock. I wanted a steel lock with 1/4" shackle that would clear the ammo can latch. I wanted steel so it would be magnetic and stick to a magnet. I didn't want the lock banging around as I drove.

A few quick photos of my set up. Project recovery gear locker almost done.

I thought you might find this one interesting. No affiliation.

Have you been looking for tough, reliable, safe, water proof, airtight, lockable storage at a very competitive price? The SWAG 50 cal ammo can mounts are just that. These are ideal for storing ammo, tools, or anything you want to keep locked up and secured.

Thank you very much!!! Amazon is not one of my search engines.

You know you can make your own right? Grab a bolt you have laying around and get after it. I made a video on how to do so. Pretty simple, and cheaper than spending the 12 bucks or so, esp if you have hardware laying around.

I made up a prototype of a TJ/LJ ammo can tray this morning. It bolts to the tub rail using the hardtop bolts. It's shown with a 50 cal can in my LJ, the can and tray don't intrude on the passenger seat space. It will fit in a TJ as well, but the can probably will poke a little more forward than in the LJ, I'll have to find a TJ to test it in. Haven't painted it yet, I'll do that this afternoon and when the paint is dry I'll reinstall it and drive around a while with it to see how it works out.

I got the ammo can tray for the LJ painted and installed. I'll test it for a while to see how it performs with loads and over rough roads.
