I REALLY like the shot of the winch monkey in the water - the lighting, composition - the whole deal. Nice!

I hope to say hello in Billings over the weekend.

Saw your vehicle on the LRO stand on Friday and hung around for a little while to try to meet up, but you were out and about the show at the time. I left a note on one of your cargo boxes.

Hope you had a good time at the show, though I doubt Saturday was up to much - I live about 15 miles away and it hasn't stopped raining all day here.

Looks great, please let us know your impressions. I am currently in the middle of the HID v LED debate and am wondering what you think.

If it's any help in making up your mind, my father's Volvo keeps blowing it £110 right headlight bulb every six months. There must be a voltage regulator fault causing it, but that's even more expensive. I don't think HIDs are worth the cost - too much trouble and too expensive for what they do. What would be more worthwhile is fitting headlight or spotlight washer jets - they make an enormous difference on my RRC; it simply doesn't need additional or uprated lighting over the 7" round halogen headlights because the lenses stay clean.

Thanks for the info / link above. Very useful. Hve you had a chance to try them out for yourself? What are your initial thoughts?

Just a little "filler" before I get home and continue preping the truck which I may be driving over to the US later this year, overland....

This is the last of my photojobs this week, in which I documented the work and people at Devon4x4 and the new home of the Wildcat (Qt Services) in Plymouth....

On the first picture it looks a bit like the Mini"4x4"... but looks ok.

You´ll go overland to USA? Or shipping?

PS: Achse is nicht´s für mich - hab ne Salisbury! Aber nach wie vor Interesse an den Lightforcern ;)

The plan is out on the table and we´re doing some research into shipping options from the east coast of Russia, to the US, e.g. most reliable and quickest route...

I am thinking about starting from Sofia, the end of the upcoming Breslau Raid on October 2nd. Quick service, some changes from the setup I will be running the Rhino during the Breslau (press car again) and then fuel up an east.....The target would be to make the whole trip in less than 28 days (4 weeks).

From my experience with the Transsysberia 2007 I am pretty sure it can be done.

If anyone has suggestions regarding shipping (I would be on the boat that takes my car) or alternative transport, any advice or assistance is greatly appreciated.

So, back home, after another 700 miles drive across Europe and many new things to work on...

Here´s a little preview of what we did for the upcoming LROi feature on my little truck...

Billing was great again, even though there were less people I think than last year.

So long,

Robert

Back home after 2 weeks on the road and back to working on the truck.

Thanx to all those of you who visited me and those of you who helped my fix my truck when the steering box shaft snapped in the offroad course.

Thanx to everyone who´s helped to get me this far with my dreams.

I will hurry up now, to finish the truck as I am set to depart east on October 2nd after the finish of the 18th Breslau Rallye.

So long,

Robert

P.S.: Passports are in the mail and now it´s just down to figuring out how to get that little Land Rover acorss the Pacific quick in enough....which is the best port to empark and the best to disembark?....

While waiting for the paperwork to be cleared I am collecting digital maps and information on possible routes for this trip....

2011_Devon_to_Denver_Asia_America.jpg

It´ll need to be a combination of speed, as I want to try and do the trip in less than 42 days (Devon to Denver) and scenic views as I will definitly be filming and taking pictures.

I left out the start of the trip on the above map, but the beginning will be somewhere on the coast of Devon. From there to the LRO show at Peterborough, then through Paris (scenery and croissants) down to Budapest (start of the 18th Breslau Rallye, which I am again covering as photojournalist) and then I will start of from Sibiu (Romania) on October 2nd.

The final destination in Russia is pretty open for the time being as I am waiting for feedback on a few options of crossing the northern Pacific.

Why am I doing this? Well, I want to and I was too quick saying "I think I could drive to the US in less than 42 days"....with the "wrong" bystanders....it got out of hand and I seemingly have to at least try now.....

So long,

Robert
