An expedition truck on portals...

That's awesome!

But I must say, if you are going that far, consider driving to the east coast of the US and then shipping back to Europe via the Atlantic and then you've gone around the world to boot.

Come visit our nations capital!

Why am I doing this? Well, I want to and I was too quick saying "I think I could drive to the US in less than 42 days"....with the "wrong" bystanders....it got out of hand and I seemingly have to at least try now.....

Hi Charles...why not :)

I wanted to write that it misses a "D" but then I already had been thinking about adding just another "D" to the trip´s title which would stand for an event, the start of which is in a city with a different capital letter, too....

We´ll see...first I need to manage to get to the US....and then get some sleep and rest :)

It will probably be Vladivostok, I guess....I am just trying to figure out the best, most convenient with least bribes offering the fastest crossing...difficult to get someone on the phone, though :(

...as I am just putting the finishing touches to my workshop feature on the home of the Wildcat at Qt Services in Plymouth (UK) I now know why Dave wasn´t in when I visited the premises....

It may only be a 2 seater but at a GVW of 2580kg and a top speed of 107mph (170km/h) it´s definitly a pretty nice new car, being build in cooperation between Qt Services and Supacat. It´s based on the Wildcat 500 DKR (the Dakar version) but I would presume they should better name it "600 SAS" :)

Only the ground clearance and the space (which space???) in the wheel arches do worry me a bit :)

My build report or should I say preparations is going to continue next week as I just got the permission to move into a new garage left unused after a dealership went bust. Gotta work hard to clean it through the weekend but then I can really work on my truck for the first time, without having to drive 100 of miles....

So long,

Robert

I am a long time lurker, and admirer of this amazing truck. I am in Austria to finish up some University classes and took a quick day trip to Munich. In some crazy cosmic coincidence, I randomly ran into Robert and his creation on the street in the city center. It was very cool to see the details of the truck in person, and even beter to meet Robert.

Now, that really was a big surprise!

Well, if everything now comes together as planned, we´ll meet next in Portland and take the LR 130CC-R for a ride in the mountains, don´t you think?

So long & enjoy Salzburg.

I really hope Robby Gordon doesn´t see this :)

I am currently touring a bit through Norway as one of the architects I work for urgently needed me...well...definitly worse things may happen, even though I have to run the wiring on the street after work now...

Will drive on to Stavanger and then a bit along the coast tomorrow after the hand over to the client....

So long,

Robert

PM me if you do. I would love to meet you and check out your truck. Have always been toying with the idea of Portals on my Laplander and PTO driven trailer. Will have to see which is cheaper, a solution like yours or Portals from the Volvo TGBs.:)

Toby!!! Dammit you're lucky to have seen this beast in person.

Robert, please do let us know if you make it to Portland. LOTS of overlanders here!

I sure will.

I lived and worked in Portland some years ago and can´t wait to drive there again....

But first I need to find a quick and reliabable way to cross the northern Pacific...

Nobody from the oil industry here, running operations in Syberia?

Robert
