Looks like you could let some air out of the trailer tires. Wear is only down the center.:)

yeah, I run them at 25psi on pavement on the truck so thats what I filled them to when they were mounted. Since the trailer is much lighter, thats too much pressure for those tires. I run 10psi in the truck tires on the trail, I'll have to figure out a street pressure on the trailer.

Have you thought about chaning the axle on the trailer to an 80 series diff, still run leaves but this way you have a spare centre, axles and bearings not to mention brakes and its going to be a stout unit.

Very cool trailer and rig :jumping:

I thought about running a entire rear end of a 80 series in a trailer for the exact same reasons. Spares. The problem is the 9.5" axle out of a 80 series or a 450 are very expensive. Especially when you throw factory E-lockers in the mix... where i do believe the axle shafts are different too. You're talking like $800+ for a rear axle that would work. it would be a sweet setup though for sure.

I'm sympathetic to the spares idea, but in the larger picture I don't think it's all that great an idea. That's a lot of excess weight you're hauling around for a fairly rare probability. Much easier to carry a couple spare wheel bearings & retire axle shafts as prudent.

I learned some things on my first real outing with the trailer up to Crown King.

I left the house with the 39" spare mounted in the trailer....but at an angle on the back wall of the trailer.

This took all the weight off the tongue and at highway speeds my trailer was bouncing side to side like it was possessed.

I stopped and mounted the spare the same way but on the front wall of the trailer and now it was smooth going again.

5 minutes into the trail (still just a dirt road) and my rigged up light bar decided it wanted to be off the trailer and dragging on the ground. (not I'm gonna have to buy new lights and permanently mount them on the trailer)

As far as offroading goes...the only time I noticed it was still there was probably when it was the only thing keeping me from flopping onto the driver's side in a weird off camber climb area....
