not unmanageable. Thanks to its proprietary file format thats a wavelet compressed raw which is visually lossless, the file size is smaller than a traditional raw image. Hard drives nowadays a cheap.

Happy to announce our newest sponsor MAXTRAX, their recovery devices will be great for a lot of deep sand we encounter while filming on some of our wilderness shoots.

We will be back on the road mid February, with a trip out to Texas and full time shooting from then on. Lots of cool stuff to come

New bumper arrived from ujoint, looking good. It's so much lighter than the original steel bumper that was on there. I could pick it up with one arm. Chris at ujoint off-road does some great work. We are swamped here getting ready to head out on the road soon, with our first trip to Dallas. New wheels and tires are coming in on Friday. Surprisingly the cheapest place I found for bfg at was amazon.com and they had free shipping.

We've been busy filming the last couple weeks. We started off in Dallas in Thanksgiving Square to film the stained glass window.

Then we went to the Salton Sea to film the abandoned homes, fish, and wildlife. A lot of the old structures were gone but a few remained. The section of Bombay Beach that was flooded is pretty much empty.

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile, we've been super busy filming at all kinds of places.

In May we had special permission to film the interiors at Bodie ghost town. It was a really interesting experience seeing all the details up close. We got our Red Epic upgraded just in time for Bodie and got to film it in 6k, which is over 9x the resolution of HD.

The last month we've been filming a lot of rock art and ruins across southern Utah. This is Brandy my partner in crime setting up our motion control rig.

The King is a place we've been trying to film a astro time-lapse at for some time. Last year we got skunked by clouds but got some clear skies on our last day to get a killer shot of the moon fading and the milky way rising behind the wing.

Our ujoint off road van has running great, its 4x4 ability matched with excellent highway comfort has been a blessing. We've driven about 10,000 miles this year alone.

Ghost town

I have always been fascinated with ghost towns, those pictures really grab your attention. What is the benefit to shooting in such high definition when the average viewing technology is not capable of displaying it at that rate? Great work, love your van and can't wait to see the finished products. (and more teasers along the way wouldn't hurt:sombrero: )

Shooting in such a high resolution and down-rezing to the release exhibition of 4k allows for greater clarity, sharpness, and overall feel. Think of it like a IMAX vs traditional theater screen, it just has that overall greater punch. Which in turn is a bonus for this type of film which is about the visual impact. Other directors use the extra resolution for different reasons as well. For example David Fincher shoots in 6k and frames in 5k for additional look around. In post they are able to adjust the framing incase say the operator missed a tilt up or they want to pan a little to the left. You can see a BTS photo here from Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

Also because the camera is 19 megapixels your able to use the images for print campaigns as well as motion.

Thanks to the guys at ARB USA for getting us a new compressor when our old one died and the parts were not available right away. Kudos to A+ customer service.

I am epicly jealous of your talent and your experience. I can't wait to see the final product. Let me know if you presell or do a kickstarter.
