Hey Guys/Gals, My Name is Cody, im from Vancouver BC. a little about me, my truck and why i joinged;
I work as a marine engineer for the Canadian Coast guard, so i have lots of knowledge when it ocmes to technical mumbo jumbo and diesels. im engaged, living in a rediculously small and overpriced apartment. i dont have a garage to work with
so most of my work is done at my parents place on vancouver island. ive been camping and exploring BC since i was old enough to bug my parents for a ride to the nearest hiking trail (or furthest) and ive been mountain biking before i could walk. I scuba dive as well. so my hobbies co-encide with my want for an overland vehicle very well
My truck, its a 86 Chev 1/2 ton with a big gas engine that gets me a best of 12mpg on the highway with absolutly no load. that will change in the near future as im going to be dropping a Cummins 6BT into it. its fairly well set up for overland otherwise. with 6" of lift curstesy of Off Road Designs Shackle flip and front lift kit. ill be replacing the front springs with custom springs for the new heavy diesel and some Bilstien shocks. the front end is a Corp. 10bolt with full chromo Ukon axels and inthe future i have plans for an ARB air locker. the rear will be swapped for a 14FF with disks as well and eather an ARB or detroit locker. im currently running Procomp X-terrain 37" tires but that will change once they wear out. planning on going bead locked MTZ's or something of the like. i have a pop open tent mounted on the rails in the bed. i want to make a custom utility flat deck for it with a rack to mount the tent (no im not going to be building a camper) i need the utility of the bed for normal use as well, since this is also my daily driver, well for the time im not working up north on the boat.
I joined this site after being directed here from 4btswaps.com, i started flipping through the forums and quickly relized this will be a huge asset. not to mention there seems to be a TON of cool people here.
