Another Kiamichi Trail run, 2/19-2/21

I'd like to do the tough part again (as well as finish the trail.) I need to do some maintenance and stuff first though. Like, put my bumpstop back on!

You should know better than to ask me--I'm always ready! Someone bone-up and do the leg work to plan and date the thing, and I'll bring spare trash bags. I may even be able to score a trailer for hauling out the garbage. Y'all thinking a long weekend this fall, or what?

Note: I usually do solo trips, but after the last couple of reports of the K-trail, I think I'd feel better about rolling it with you guys, anyway. I'd love to cover the trail, but I really have no interest on stumbling upon a wilderness meth kitchen when I'm alone. Does that make me a wuss?! :D

Russel & Wes.... yalls gonna scratch dem purdy lil trucks up en da trail. Jus warnin yall.

This.
The trail is quite grown up and put quite a bit of wilderness pinstriping on all of our trucks. Not just little twigs and branches either. :Wow1:

BTW, what part of the trail is the 'hard' part? The section that loops from HWY259 back to HWY259?

I would like to go back before the heat gets turned up. Granted its a lot cooler in the hills, but still could get pretty warm. Im thinking late April sometime? That should give me time to get some real tires and get some more stuff done. Im going to try and bid on one of those M101A3 military trailers local shortly so Im thinking that would work out pretty well for a trash trailer. :)

No, from outside of Clayton off of 9 Pines Rd which is Clayton Trail Rd--- which is the tougher section, actually. We only made it to the Indian Hwy. And my truck broke down because of the friggan catalytic converter broke.... nice huh? We would have continued the next day had it not.

No prob with a few new backcountry pinstripes. MAtter of fact, Mike's got me wondering if my ole Arlo could cover the Rubicon. I might like him more with some "story marks." ... it's one of them things that helps my truck look legit.

AIN'T SKEERED.

Oh, and I'm prolly no good 'til fall. Army stuff starts in mid Ape and runs through May, and not long after that it gets too hot for me to even think about camping. I'll be rearing to go again come 'round Rocktober.

Gotcha. Just by looking at the trail on the map it looks like past 259 could get fun but yes Clayton Trail Rd section was fun. Ill have some vids to post up as soon as I get them from my buddy.

6string Ill be down later this year too! This is the first 'project' that I have had that still moves under its own power in about 3-4 years, so Im ready to enjoy it. :smiley_drive:

Mine came with scraches, so I'm not worried at all. That was part of my reasoning for buying used instead of brand new. I would be a lot more cautious to bring a new one. What kind of scratching are we talking? Deep down thru the paint or stuff that can be buffed out? That might change Ryan's mind about the trip, although I could hold back the branches and stuff for him to get thru.

You'd may as well walk through with a chain saw if you wanna hold back all the branches!

Its pretty bad, honestly. The tougher parts arent regularly traveled by 4x4 only ATVs so its growing in. I knocked my magnetic CB antenna off my roof like 5 times and even a couple times on my hood!

Follow this forum regularly. Let me know when you guys plan on making that run again if you don't mind me taggin along. I ive in Bossier City, La and my wife and I went canoeing/camping on the Kiamichi last year and loved it. A good trail run would make it even better. We used to make it up to Albert's Pike in Ark all the time, but haven't in a while. Want to do some good runs this summer.

Have a TJ. Also have a JK if its a 4 door only thing but its not built up yet.

Maybe an ignorant question, but if the trail is tighter at one end, you could run it starting from the other end, correct?

Ill get some good pictures of the scarring after I wash the truck up. I do know they arent going to buff out. Im being serious when I say this. If this Jeep didnt cost $500, and I honestly cared about it, I wouldnt take this trail. The section where the tree was cut down and we had to go around, I came very very close to putting my 1/4 pannel into a tree. And the limbs in the trail arent soft pine or small. They are pretty hard and thick. I had my gas can strapped to the roof rack, and almost took it AND the rack off! We didnt know the trail got as tight as it did, but none of us were really worried with our old trucks.
