Another LR in the works!

Thanks-I'm pretty proud of her. The frequent offers and inquiries I get from random strangers still takes me by surprise. I stopped off to get some fly line on the way home from a Waxoyl day recently and a guy in a 3rd gen 4runner pulled alongside in the oncoming lane and shouted-just tell me the model and year so I can look it up later!-I told him quick and hoped he noticed the car approaching him. The DI will never get that except maybe from other LR nuts.

Legendary vehicles. I guess that's why most LR fans have many different ones. I'm not stopping until I have a IIA, that's all I can say! I've found that the D1's and Range Rover Classics are getting more looks and waves every day. Just about every time I go out I get a thumbs up, honk or wave. This is in Illinois farm country where these are rare, though, compared to Colorado, where they are much more common . . . :ylsmoke:

I'm in a college town so plenty of Disco about-but I'm the only series around and I can only think of about 5 in this part of the state. I do get a lot of "what kind of Jeep is that" and "I put a 454 in one of those once" I like that one!

The thought of a 454 in a series made me laugh and scared me at the same time:coffeedrink:

I can hear it know-yeah bo-got me a 64 IIa, 454, hurst shifter, Holley 800cfm double pumper, high rise intake and a scoop through the hood, headers, duals and 3in pipes-it runs like a coon chased by the hounds man....

Time to take on the Saturday night drags . . . Land Rover style . . . Oh yeah!

Now that would be hillarious! Pulling up to the Sonic in a IIa that is shaking the ground with it's rumble. You'ld have to change everything but the frame as I think those 10 pline axles would work-once-with all that torque.

Anyway...back to our Disco channel. She's still at the shop-they didn't get a chance to test for injector leak yesturday as the guy is not doing this as a rush to save me $$. I guess taking various cars to him for 6 years now is paying off. I told him about the Ford 4.6 injectors if needed. I'm hoping to pick it up today so I can start the cleaing this weekend and address any found rust in the floors.

update-picked her up so I can work on it this weekend while I wait for the injectors and fuel pump. I'm getting a constant beep from the radio anti-theft warning when I turn the car off. How do I turn that off?? The radio has to go anyway-it's pretty bad. I'll just put in a CD deck from best buy or something. Who would have guessed the series would be the easy one!?!

Pulled out the carpet and pad in back today and guess what I found???yep rust.

It is along the edge of the cargo floor except along the forward edge and gets worse as you go back. Along the rear edge is is not bad but as the sides go forward it's through the steel and is so about 1/2 way up. I'll try to attach some pics but that never seems to work with my mac.

I'm going to check into getting a new floor welded in-it's pretty ugly.

I wish I could weld and want to learn but this would be way beyond a beginer.

Looks like a nice rig. Too bad about the rust. Get it before it gets too bad. We are spoiled here in Cali as we almost never see rust.

I am still kicking myself for passing on a 95 D1 5-spd SD with only 70k original miles last year. It would have been a nice truck.

Good luck with the tune-up and build.
