Another New 4Runner (autumn metallic)

Hey all, just wanted to take a moment to say hi and start a build thread for my new 99 4runner. I got it about 2 weeks ago, and have some big plans. It turns out the truck is a fairly rare color, since no one has ever seen one, and the dealer thought I was crazy when I told them what color it was. Anyways, it is a 99 limited v6 4x4 with a center locking diff and 95k miles. It has lived its entire life in the south, there is not a touch of even surface rust on it anywhere. I have taken off the running boards in preparation for a set of Stubbs HD-SKO sliders that I ordered last week. Coming up is a Soranan Steel 1.2 lift and some bumpers. After that onboard air and ARB lockers.

All Limiteds have a CDL. Or are you talking about a rear locker? The center diff is locked by the J-shift lever and the rear locker button is to the left of the steering wheel.

Nice color, BTW. It's actually called, "Autumn Blaze Metallic." And definitely of the more rare colors.

Welcome aboard...

Your build-up plan is pretty much what I did to mine...Stubbs HD-SKOs; Sonoran Steel system 1.2, Armorology bumpers front and rear...

Get your popcorn and your checkbook ready...

man, i dig that color. should be able to hide the dirt well, since it is already dirt colored! :sombrero: i'd say you got a nice, low milage rig, and a lot of guys agree the 99 era runners are very good vehicles.

Very nice find and color, as stated above. Good luck on the build, sounds like you are on track with your selections. Keep us posted.

This is the 4runners garage mate, I am just finishing it up... The 4runner will be built slower and I will enjoy the process... the cobra has been hell at times.

So a small update, and a question...

I ordered a set of Stubbs welding HD SKO sliders, which I am doing a few mods to (pics coming soon).

I am deciding on a lift, the current leader is a Sonoran Steel 1.2 lift.

Also, what are peoples opinions of a V6 4runner and auto tranny with 4.30 gears and 255/85/16 tires?

Nater,

It would be interesting for you to weigh the 4Runner in stock
condition, and then (maybe years from now) weight the vehicle
with the expedition equipment you're planning to add. I think
we'd all like to know how much weight the expo gear adds.

I'm pretty sure you'll want to regear for those tires. I think 4.88s or 4.56s are what you want.

Wow, there are lots of 3rd gen 4runners around here but I'm sure I've never seen that color, at least not that I noticed.

Looks nice. Love the Limited interior and the torsen center diff lock. Low miles are a big plus! Will be looking forward to the build as I'm contemplating my own mods.
