Very Cool! I really like that set up. I think that is one of the best bang for the buck trailers on the market.

I am about to start pulling a trailer off road and I am curious about what you are seeing with dirt and mud kicked off the truck? I think it was "Gear or maybe "Crusieroutfit"" that posted the front of a Adventure trailer just caked with about 40lb of mud.

The Kimberly's have a big apparatus on the front to deflect the nasty stuff. It seems to be a good alternative to Mud Flaps (aka trail fodder).

You put any thoughts into any solution with your set up?

Well,

I just got the trailer so I don't have a good answer or any experience yet.

My real intentions are to use it a base camp while wheelin' trails, so I don't know how much mud it will really see.

I grew up wheelin' in mud (southeast Louisiana) now I avoid it like the plague:)

Normal affair in the SE as you know...wish it wasn't.

I skipped a ride at Tellico today because of the rain we have been getting the last week. I just didn't want to spend all Sunday getting the mud out of everything (and we are on Water ban so that would mean $10 in Quarters at the car wash risking being lynched by the operator for mudding up the bay) and having to go through and relube everything. Besides I though I would get off my Duff and work on my trailer. LOL

Hey, Parts Guy, that trailer looks great. Is that the one I saw in the grey hammertone powder coat? I saw that and I said, "damn" I wish I had ordered mine in that finish. I have several thousand miles on mine now, bounced around a bit, and no problems. Its not real fancy, but its built like a tank.
Hope you have fun!

Robert has a demo in the same color as this one.

I took mine out for an overnight trip this weekend and it handle very well.

Worth every penny, I can't believe I waited this long to get a trailer.

Rattle can paintin

Funny that in Az, the DMV requires we run mudflaps on the trailer and not on your pulling rig. Counter productive.....My Jeep of course is the one throwing stones at my trailer. I usually don't roll fast enough off-road to throw stones from my trailer. But over time the front of my trailer shows my miles I have traveled by the chips of paint I have knocked off.
Good thing it's just a rattle can paint job. :gunt:

Might have been this picture, though it isn't an AT, its the custom trailer I assembled :D

Looking forward to seeing some neat "mud" solutions.

Hmmm, never realized there was a product like that. If I was exposed to mud like that more often I would seriously invest in the stuff.

Alot of the old-times get a can of generic WD40 and blast it all over their undercarriage to prevent the mud from sticking, it actually works really good and couldn't be easier to apply. Though the WD method would be a PITA on painted surfaces :D

That particular situation was a winter Moab trip. On our trip home, we went through Arches NP rather than the highway. Needless to say I have a whole new respect for the "impassible when wet signs". It took lockers and generous amounts of throttle just to get up the slightest of inclines. The clay out here can be amazing.. a week later it can be dry as a bone.

For those of you that have seen the Outback Challenge video thats been going around. The trailer they were using had a canvas "wing" of sorts that was installed between the rig and the trailer. I imagine one could rig up something like that very easily and it would be super effective. I've had this conversation with several other offroad trailer owners over the last couple years, seems none of us have been that enthused to build something. :D

Prime advantage of Mud-Off, and it's competitors, is that they work on paint too.

Seems like a 'wall' made of heavy Visceline on a light frame or a light sheet of polyethylene btwn the two in the tongue would deflect a large portion of the mud.
Is that the "Wing" you mention?

Yup, that exactly what the trailer in the video had... looked very simple to come up with.

Here is one option:
