Back at it again... Enjoying the beach in Brazil while bringing you up to speed with some more images of Guyana. The bush is really where it is happening. Great people, great adventure to be had. I imagine this would be like in the US during the gold rush days...

I have been following your adventures since I found your thread on this website. Like other adventurers posting here, almost all of you come from First World countries. While there a few who come from developing countries like where I live (Philippines), they are only a fraction of them, so the bottom line really is economics. I am sure you are aware of the Malaysian Rainforest Challege which is held during the first week of December. Participating in that event may not mean a lot of money for most of the participants, but in our country, without a corporate sponsor, competing therein would be extremely difficult. Anyway, while I am unable to undertake your kind of adventure, your stories give me and other local adventurers some sort of courage to tackle local adventures.

Karin-Marijke and Coen, thanks for continuing to post to your thread. I haven't been on here for months, and I've been dealing with very hard emotional stuff. I lost a very dear friend to a drunk driver a few months ago. She last went with me to a camping trip by a festival, for several days and nights. We used my Jeep Sleeper and slept VERY WELL. A magical weekend. I took her by her Mom's on the way home. She died 16 days later... I had to experience the loss all by myself.
I had to wait until August before I could get out of town. I'm feeling trapped at work. I make below living wage at the prime of my life, and I feel like if I don't get out of this before it's too late, I will be doomed to a wage earner's demise...
On the other hand, I have been in the process of the last year-plus of closing down all my financial responsibilities (paying off) and getting ready to think about what goes into storage, what doesn't. I'm approaching a point where I can't function anymore on some days. I just surf all day or play my didgeridoo to hide myself from the fact that I'm BORED to tears while trying to save money every which way I can.

We feel with you and are very sorry that you lost a dear one. Hope you get over it in due time. And we are sure you will make it out there. Once away from it all you'll be able to put all things in perspective.
