Any Fully built F150 expedition builds?

For the front, I didn't like the idea of relying on a big fender washer and bolt through the thin bed sheet metal as the connection. I'd rather be tied to the frame. This is a 2" long piece of 2x.25" steel angle iron drilled to fit the factory bed bolt and a 3/8" shackle to hook the turnbuckle to. I bet without the shackle you could pick the truck up with one of these. With that strength in the front mounts, I wasn't as concerned with the rear. Even though they are mounted very close to some welds and folds in the bed. So should be stronger than bolts just mounted in the center of the bed. These eye bolts I found at Lowes. Working Load is ~500# or so. Almost half what the empty camper weighs. The coolest part is that the part that bolts to the bed is hollow threaded and the actual eye bolt threads in, so you can remove them leaving just the threaded receiver for an almost flush look. I never do though.

This is a pic of the front. I never got around to painting it as I installed it the day before a trip and never removed it.

yes!!!

doesn't beat a bike though (nothing much does other than a Trophy Truck or Class 1) ;)

Be a decent screwing around with the girlfriend showing her the sites though.

I dunno, I can't help myself but driving past the chevy commercial truck yard often having a look-see.

Do you have any white ones?

getting off track here fellas, not a F150, but this F250 with a long travel TTB is pretty sweet

I am another that has big plans and a thin wallet, but what would make an f150 "fully built?". I have a few mods on my 2004 Supercrew and a few more that are in the very near future (just need to be bolted on), but I guess I'm just looking for a list of "necessities" that I need to add. As of right now I have a leveling kit, 275/70r18 tires, camper shell, roof rack, and I just picked up a frontier replacement front bumper. I'll be adding a 20" led light bar to the bumper and a couple of bigger ones on the roof rack. I will also add a cb at some point but it's not high on my list. This truck is primarily a tow vehicle for my real off-road exploration vehicle (teryx4) so I have added an edge programmer and it will soon receive either an add a leaf or rear air bags to assist with towing. I do mostly tent camping so I already have most of the supplies needed for that kind of camping. Here's a few pics of what I'm currently rockin

Very nice bdk. I love that roof rack on your topper. ..and the led bar. Is your basket custom or factory built?

Looks good, what bumper is that and what cross bars are you using. I like how they sit low on the topper, keeps the basket close.

Thanks, the basket is made by rage, it was right around $100 I think and the brackets were some I had laying around from a ORU defender roof rack I bought and sold a few years ago. I made the cross bars out of some 1 1/4" square tubing and bought plastic end caps from fastenal to make it look a little nicer. If you bought the mounts new I think you would have less than $150 in it. The bumper is made by frontier gear and I think it's about $800 new + tax and shipping but I found mine used for $350 in very good condition so I'm really happy about that. Seems very solid and is relatively light (170 lbs).

Thanks, the rack is a rage stingray, picked it up for about $120

It's a pretty nice rack for the money, but I had an ORU defender rack on some previous vehicles that was awesome, but pretty expensive $500+ if I remember correctly.

The cross bars are homemade out of some 1 1/4" square tubing but what keeps it so low are the mounts. I had them left over from the ORU rack and thought they were like $30 but I looked at their site and they're $82 now.

U could fab some pretty easy with some readily available stuff from lowes for cheap.

The light bar was just up there for a test fit, it was actually purchased for my teryx4. It's a 30" which after putting it up there I decided it looked a little small so I'll be getting a 40" for the front and probably just a 20" for the rear. I also plan to put a 20" on the front bumper like this one

I buy the cheap Chinese made lights from eBay and they seem to work fine. If I really depended on them I might buy a Rigid but I can't justify the expense for my occasional recreational use.

The bumper is made by frontier gear and seems pretty solid. It is made a little lighter than a ranch hand but on an IFS truck i'd hate to put too much more weight up there. Their website says it weighs 170 lbs which didn't seem too bad to me. I think they sell for about $800 new plus tax, shipping, and installation. I picked this one up used for $350 and installed it with very little help from my wife in about 2hrs. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

That is a good looking truck Bdk. I love my 06 F150 and I find them to be very capable right out of the box. No they wont rock crawl but for me that is not what I am looking for. For me a small lift, good tires, some skid plates and if you got the money a locker for the rear she will go anywhere she will fit. I am just waititng for these crappy tires I have currently to die so I can get the tires I really want.
