Got a 17 & 22.
The 22 broke the rear slide tabs off, but glock replaced the entire frame no charge, so I'm not complaining, especially since I got it used.
Got lone wolf trigger components and crimson trace lasers on both too.
I weekly compete in pin shoots (bowling pin shoots) and for ultimate accuracy, the Kimbers just flat out rule! All the fastest times are with the awesome 1911's. With lasers, we're getting down to almost 2 second flat times on a good 5(shots) for 5(pins). That is timed from the horn to the last pin hitting the floor. The table must be cleared with 8 shots and anything still on the table is 5 seconds penalty onto your time.
Many try all the others (glock, XD, Sig, etc, etc) but overwhelmingly they seem to be more accurate, mostly IMHO due to the excellent short-pull triggers.
I occasionally use the glock 22, CZ in .40 or the kimber ultra-carry, but the full size is the fastest. Ultra-carry at least 1+ second slower due to muzzle recoil/re-acquisition time.
My ultra-carry is my carry gun when concealment allows, or something smaller
when concealment is a problem.
Like the glocks, but when all-out accuracy is the goal, the 1911's for me are there.
