Awesome build project!

I have a similar flat bed, but the frame is steel with aluminum bed and sides. I have a homegrown DIY Wildernest ghetto fab on it now.

Very nice! A removable headache rack will look nice on it, too. Have you thought about some drop side panels for the tray?

well I got the the old bed off and the weird hitch off and am currently redesigning that so I dont loose the amazing clearence Ive gained. I will prolly get a chance to work on it again next week so wait for the updates. Ive added some temp mudflaps so that is something I will also have to figure out. I cant believe how light this thing turned out. Id say it weighs under 150 lbs cant wait to bed line it!

Couple things to think about. I'm sure you have tried to fill the gas tank up. And it is very difficult with the angle gone from the original bed. I fabricated a new fill neck for my flatbed. Runs up the side on the cab, between the bed and the cab. Makes life easier.

Also the fresh air inlet for the EVAP system is incorporated into the fill neck. So you will have to use the original fill neck at least the top half of it. And extend the hoses back down to the EVAP carbon canister that sits under the bed. A big mistake I made was to wheel the truck and ford a few small rivers and creeks. The water entered the fresh air inlet to the EVAP canister and ruined my small EVAP fan and electric solenoid inside the canister. So don't do that before you extend the hoses and gas filler up higher. Having it sit in the new flatbeds bed wheel well cut out wont work. Just to low. I learned the hard way. If the carbon canister gets ruined I.E. the small Fan the whole canister will need replacement parts are not sold separate. Its pricey also. I was mad at my self.

I have more detailed info if you want it. Also some pics that might help. Let me know.

Thanks Zolo your rig was a huge inspiration for mine. I looked ove your pics very closely. Id be very curious as to your fill neck as thats still and issue I havent worked out quite yet. Im thinking of building a steel recess that holds the filler and drilling a hole into the side of my bed to recess it and give a better angle. Will see though.

Cheers!

Your's and zolo's trucks are inspiriation for me. I hope to get my Land Cruiser sold, then the Subaru and find a decent 2ng Gen to start on. Hopefully a 2.7litre 4x4...unless I can find a decently priced 6.
