Anyone have an XVenture by Schutt Ind ?

I'm looking forward for XVenture to make their version of a teardrop.

Never say never, but I would seriously doubt it. Their XVenture is an easy and logical spinoff of their military market, from which the design of the XVenture comes, look at the M1101/2 compared to the XVenture. The XVenture is an altered M1101.
Venturing (pun intended) into the teardrop market, which already has a very large offering, would not make sense to me. But then, what do I know!!??

I have a 2016 4runner. I would like to know how these things would tow with my rig. I see some of you tow it with a JK which is close in power to the 4runner. I know the XV2 is pretty light but if it's gonna be too much for a 4runner I would consider the XV3. I have a few questions for you owners and dealers...
Can you please explain how the XV2 tows behind your rigs?
Can you feel it back there?
Any need for airbags or other suspension mods to safely tow it fully loaded out?
What is the measurement from the bed floor to the bottom of the rack when it is completely extended? Want to carry a dirt bike...Thanks.:beer:

So.. I just picked up a loaded 2014 XVenture 2 last week. I picked it up in Moab, played around a few days, then drove it from Moab to Albuquerque (6 hours) with no brakes/connections/lights, etc, nothing. (I am in the process of adding a 7 PIN to my Jeep.. damn Chrysler leaving that off.. ugh). ANYHOW.. It tows fine with my Jeep JKU. I only noticed it going up long grades I would drop below 75-70 a bit. Otherwise I hardly knew it was back there. ZERO oscillation at all. There is a really rough patch of road when you make that transition from Colorado to NM that I thought would bounce me off the road... but the trailer stayed back there like a champ. No Issues. Tows better than any trailer I have ever owned. You can't see the Jeeps brake lights while behind the trailer BUT you can see the third brake light. (With the tent in low or high position) I have a stock Jeep Rubi and will be putting a 3.5" lift soon with 35's. That will level the trailer perfectly. As my stock Jeep sits now the trailer angles down slightly. I would not want to tow this with anything with a 4 cyl. motor.. but any 6 cyl is fine! We are actually taking it to a soccer tournament this weekend towed by my wife's Honda Pilot (holds tons of soccer players!).. so the girls can take naps and relax in the shade in between games. I'll probably grill something too
If I was only always camping by myself the Version 3 would probably be OK.. But I have a family of four plus dogs and camp a lot and cook a LOT sometimes with lots of people involved. I couldn't get away with smaller than the XV2. Camp chairs, firewood, (I like lots of firewood!), ice chests, recover gear, tools, food, all that takes up space. Plus that huge nose box is friggin awesome. I can't get the vertical rack measurements at the moment but can soon unless somebody else does. Anyhow.. PM me with any specific questions... cheers
I will say this.. you are better off getting info here on this site than calling Schutt., they aren't the best at returning emails or calls. Their product is top notch though.

In terms of the 4Runner it will do fine. Certainly heavy when loaded on steep grades, especially in the mountains, but it gets the job done. Heres more details on our review. http://expeditionportal.com/schutt-xventure-xv-2-the-wrap-up/

Ok so anyone who bought one of these new, was there any manuals about properly winterizing this system. I live in Very very cold country and would like to protect my investment. Also needing to replace a LED light. Can't get ahold of the company to save my life.

Great! Thanks for the reply and comments Fireman. Sounds like you are using the trailer how I would use it except it would be at baseball tournaments and of course adventures. Schutt must rely on their dealer network to take care of customer service because people seem to have a hard time getting a hold of them. I googled how to winterize an RV and this wikihow article is pretty good.

Wow, great write up Chris! Appreciate you putting that long term review out there. It sounds like the 4runner struggled a little but was sufficient. The XV3 is probably the better choice for the 4runner but if I get this trailer it will also be used for utility jobs around the house so having a full size bed is a must for that purpose. Also I would like to carry a dirt bike with me and need to know what the height is from the bed to the bottom of the roof rack when it is all the way up.
It sounds like Schutt is trying to fix the noise problem from the rack.
I wonder if there is a way to have them eliminate the hole in the table they have for their stove and just use an outdoor portable stove hooked up to their propane system? If not, could maybe patch the hole with a cutting board type material and some rivets or have a fabricator weld it up with aluminum.
You mentioned something about the ride of the trailer with the heavy duty axle...how many axle sizes are available, meaning is their a range of axles or just two? With using one of these trailers for utility...should I get the heavy duty axle or is it that bad of a ride during adventures. I figure most of the driving while adventuring is going to be in that 5-30mph range you stated was a problem with the heavy duty axle. Can you please discuss more on this? Thanks!

The dimension from the bottom of the cargo bed to the top of the rack fully extended 56 inches total.
A Note on the galley table is that it we have versions available without the stove cutout. We didn't want to limit the experience to an individual type or brand of stove so this is an option.
We rate the trailer to a 3500lbs GVW capacity but the axle was designed to be most optimal when carrying ~2000lbs or more capacity. Keep in mind the trailer when fully loaded with normal accessories we offer such as water, propane, elevating rack, tent, awning etc.. is usually around the 2000lb mark. This is the standard and smallest axle setup. We can customize and go bigger just not smaller.
