Anyone remember the US-based Camel 110?

I believe there are at least two in N. California, maybe three. The third may have been a visitor.

Ron's 110 was imported whole, not by him. He is on this board.

The third CT was newly acquired and is now in nor-cal also I believe.

and getting a new 200Tdi w/ a/c. Super nice fella, and using the truck as she should be...

Thanks for comment! I have had a blast so far!! I'm definitely taking it out and about (but nothing too crazy, it is still a part of history). Just joined the board here so I will keep people posted with the trips.

Guys,

I may have some information on the Himalaya 'Dutch' 110. If it's the truck I think it is I own a sister vehicle, here in the UK, a third is in France, the fourth was probably written off in India. I think the one in the US was G348 WAC (UK reg).

I'll try to get some pictures uploaded, both from india and since, otherwise feel free to pm me.

Cheers Dan

I posted this one in Vehicles for Sale (it's not mine, obviously)

Check out some of the comments... "Oh, that is so overpriced!" "It's not as good as my XJ!" "How do you know it's real??" Uh, it's 100% documented, like the seller says...

Sigh.

Am I the only one that thinks that particular truck at $60k isn't such a terrible deal?

Aaron R. and Dale both have nice 110s for sale that are much cheaper, but they're still in that ballpark as far as price... If you're going to drop $35-$50k for a nice, stock-ish 110 diesel, $60k for a kitted collector truck with real provenance doesn't seem like such a stretch.

Here are a couple of shots of G343 (sister to the US based Himalaya truck) on Salisbury Plain on New Years Day this year... I'll dig out some original India photo's when I have chance.

Cheers Dan

Yup good point... G348, G346 and G343 were, 'updated' for the '96 Dutch selections. When I bought G343 it was an incomplete restoration, having had everything galvanised, so I decided to return it to the spec it had in northern India

In '90 and '91 the camel logo was blue on yellow, in '96 it was green on yellow. also Sand ladders were never used in India, but had become a bit of a trademark so were fitted by Gerard in Holland.

Here are a couple of photo's, the first in India in '91 with G343 (note the odd rooflights), the second in Marcels car park in '09 in selections spec.

(Note green '96 door stickers and blue '90 roof rack plaque)
