Darn, things are never easy or straightforward anymore are they.

Hope it works out ok. That Runner looks great.

Seems as if others have had similar problems. I also did with my 87 Runner. Got it worked out and I kick myself all the time for not keeping that rig, it was great.

The forerunner does look good, Hopefully you get everything all straightened out Looking foreward to seeing the rest of the build.:coffee:.

The resolution is this: Looking for a different 4Runner........one with a clean title. Accidents don't bother me so much but a dinged title does.

If you wouldn't mind, how did you find that truck? I'm in the hunt for one too, and want to avoid that route if possible! Maybe school me a bit please..

Thanks!

I found it on craigslist, but the problem was just me not being as knowledgeable as I thought I was. I never wanted to do this but from now on I'll pay a dealer or mechanic $100 to check it out.

What's your price range? And are you open to 4th Gen 4Runners? 01-04 4dr Tacomas?

Just a couple from my area:

I've decided to look at Taco's too. D/C's are best but...........

What I really wanted was leather and the rear diff lock. Leather just cleans up better, but it's not a necessity. The rear diff lock is.

I did not want to spend over $13,500. I'm done with payments.

What I want to do is rig up some 4th Gen 4Runner Limited, Landcruiser, Sequoia leather seats in my Tacoma. I'm not too fond of the stock seats, either.

Hey AppleJack I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. I've fallowed/fallen in love with your truck through all the forums. (That kinda sounded "stalker-ish") If it means anything coming from a stalker.. getting rid of that payment is one of the best things you could do for your family. I just bought a 88 4runner and some people scoffed at me but there's nothing like not paying for it every month. Onward and upward!

Thanks for the compliment. I really do appreciate it. I do and will miss my truck.
The PO actually came and picked the 4runner up today and paid me my money (lift and tires) and the bank has cut me a check as well.
And the very best news of all is.....I found another 4runner!!:wings:
This one is super clean too. A '99 Limited 111k the timing belt/water pump was done at 94k the only down side is it has some 18 inch bling on it with street tires. I pick it up tomorrow and will see what some tire shop will give me for trade in on those.
