Applejack's 3rd Gen 4runner Build

Suspension Mullings

I seriously am not trying to make this the most boring build thread but I just want to take this build more slowly than I have in the past.
Yes, I have a confession to make. My name is Kirk and I'm and autoholic.
I have trouble keeping a vehicle for more than 2 years. I get depressed when I think about how much money I've tossed away on past rigs and then sell 'em off at a net loss. So I'm going slow and only adding what I feel I really need.
Since the last update I've added a Thule M.O.A.B. basket, wired in my CB and sold my Mojave wheels and put factory ones back on.

I've taken a couple of remote camping trips with it and had it loaded with about 300 lbs of gear and 100 lbs of dog and the rear suspension is a weak sister. No big surprise there. The front actually handles off road stuff ok but on the the road it sways like lofty pine.
I have been thinking about trying the relatively unknown (to us U.S. folk) Ironman suspension but am having second thoughts. I've gotten no input from anyone that runs them on a 4runner so I think I'll just pay the extra and go with OME. That is unless someone has anything to add about the Ironman product.

Good luck...I'd just do an OME setup with trim packers up front and 891s in the rear if I were to do it over again.

I have decided just to go OME. I ordered my rear stuff today, sport shocks and 891's. I still am mulling over the front. My thought is 883's with a toytec top plate, to try and keep things level.

Keep us posted on the sport shocks. I also want to swap my N86C's out for the sport firms.

What part of Oregon are you located? I've been thinking about organizing a trail run at Brown's Camp or some where close. Would you want to join?

It seems that a lot of 3rd gen 4Runner owners are from Oregon lately;)

I'm waaaay down in S.O. (Medford) though if the timing is right I'm always up for and adventure north. Just let me know what dates you're thinking.

This is what came in today..........

I thought that I had bought my 891's in haste and sold them awhile ago and hope I don't regret my decision.
I went with the 881's in the front and 906's in the rear. It was a tough decision to make and after a few email conversations with ARB and one phone call I made the choice. 90% of the time this rig is unloaded and on the pavement, regretful but true.
If in the future I get another DD I will probably redo it, but for now this is how it will be. Should have it on Thursday.

I'm very interested in the 881/906 with sport shocks. After you get them on can you post how much lift you gained and what you think of the ride? I'm sure your 4Runner is going to look great with the new suspension.

Lift is ON

I got my OME 881/906 with their sport shocks put on Thursday.
Firmed up the ride quite a bit and most noticeably in the back.
The suspension has not settled yet and I really haven't had the chance to drive it much since it's been on, but here's some pics and measurements.
The measurements were taken from the ground to the fender at the middle of the center cap.

Stock was 34.875 FR/34.375 RR

With the lift it is 36.75 FR/37.125 RR

I gave it a little road test today around some twisties, a lot more flat in the corners than before. Then I hit a little trail nothing major, but something that did require 4wd before can now be done in 2wd thanks to the extra wheel travel. However the extra travel has begun to stress the inner cv boot. I think my little trail test loosened the clamp.
