ARB Air Locker Sale - Lock In a Great Deal W/ ARB Air Lockers

No, this would not. A center diff is used in full-time systems vs. part-time systems. With the center diff locked, it functions the same as any other part-time (traditional) 4WD system. Power is distributed evenly between the front and rear axles; which wheels get power is up to the differentials at each axle.

If your front diff is open, then both front wheels will spin independently.

Thanks. Haven't owned a full-timed 4wd before and didn't understand what was happening. That makes sense.

No worries. Now keep in mind, that the 80 with a rear locker would be quite capable. You could add the front later if you can't do it now.

Had to reschedule. It's this Thursday. I've already got the wiring and plumbing all run and sorted out.

Tony.....Are we fully locked yet?

Yep...tried it out today, actually. Worked great. I really like how easy it is to enable/ disable on demand. Hill climbs are much, much easier now; the Montero just climbs right up.

Although, I have to say, that LSD I had was pretty good for not being a locking differential. But, I'm sure glad to have both axles locked now.

Everyone should get in on this while this deal is still good.

Does a selectable locker perform better off road then an auto locker does?

The ability to lock on will is definitely a plus over the auto locker, otherwise locked is locked.

Also are the ARB's overly difficult to install? Anything more than basic tools and experience needed?

I would answer this question as a yes from a mechanical ability. ARB is no more difficult then any other locker, but if you are not familiar with setting up gears and don't have the typical tools of a gear shop then this is not a do it yourself project. You will need to drill a hole in your pumpkin remove the gears and bearings, use a bearing puller and press, set the backlash and possibly shim the gears.

If I Chose to get them installed professionally, on average how much do you think it would cost to get two ARB lockers and compressor installed?

a shop could charge $400 for the locker, $400 for the gear setup, plus a couple hundred for the compressor.
