So Google released a new product to the Nik Collection of plug-ins and I had to go through and mess with it. I am unsure of an application where I would use this as a regular thing but I re did my Teton pano from scratch and after some thought on the initial editing I liked the outcome better. Proceeded to the collection and ended up using several of their plugins to finish this off.

Sorry I am late in responding, Aaron, just got back home after several days in northern Utah and a stretch in Cathedral Valley. Cold camping at 19 degrees in the desert shooting stars.

This shot of the rocks near the edge of the parking lot at Monument valley was shot on May 2nd, 2010 on the way home from Page Az. I had driven out to shoot Hunt's Mesa with Mylo James and Aaron Nelson with an overnight on Hunt's Mesa.

Then Aaron and I went on to shoot from Alstrom Point in Page. When I left Page to return home to Indiana it was snowing as I ascended from Page to Monument Valley, and there was 5 inches of new, wet snow when I reached the parking lot, and on those famous rocks. I just thought this was a somewhat different view than typically posted. Glad you liked it too.

Here is a different view of those rocks that you will recognize, but an image I like a bit less.

Sorry it took me so long to respond Rob, I have kind of been all over the place lately.
The Nik Collection works with LR and PS and I believe even Aperture but don't hold me to that. They just released the newest plug in which I have been playing with a little. it is a little extreme even for me. As photographers we are often looking for perfection in our shots and the newest plug in adds degradation and flaws on purpose. good for somethings but not a must have when compared with the rest of the collection. Color Efex Pro is my most used but I like sharpener and define as well. I use it primarily in Photoshop so I can also selectively control the level I am using the filters in masks and opacity when comparing to the original.

We spent year complaining about the limitations of film, and now we're adding it back :) I hear that vinyl records are making a comeback as well, go figure.

Pathfinder, famous as they are I didn't recognise those rocks, amazing the difference a bit of snow can make.

Ken, great photo. It looks good enough on my screen but I suspect as a print with just the right amount of tone in the darkness it would be really good.

lol they go even further yet by adding so called wet plates, toy camera filters, as well as others. I have only had a couple of successful images turn out from the program and while I can see a place for it in some commercial work, I do not see it becoming as mainstream as the other filters they produce.

I guess this would qualify seeing I dragged my tripod out for this one. I have always loved photographing the Great Lakes freighters over the years even with my point-and-shoots. Some came out extremely well over the years even. I have always wanted to photograph one at night and get some decent result for once. The opportunity came about the other night. I spotted this on the river on my way home from work so I went home and grabbed my gear. There is a very thin layer of ice on the river that I wish wasn't there but oh well. Here are my results with my Canon T2i and crappy 18-55 kit lens and then Lightroom:

Critique is accepted seeing I have only been at the DSLR thing a little more than a year.

Nah, mosquitoes only breed in stagnant water. Our tides move non-stop, so we have very few mosquitoes and usually have a mild breeze, which keeps them at bay. Remember where 2 miles out into the Gulf of Mexico

Now No-See-Um's, that's a whole different story. Sand Gnats, Teeth with Wings, Sand Fleas....etc....be outside when the wind dies and they'll eat you alive!
