Rob- what Trevor said! very nice... I have been wanting to do these blends for sometime... do you know of a good online tutorial? I know you mentioned you have additional software, I only have photoshop(PS2) and lightroom at the time.

Love having fun 😊 in the 🌞 by the ⛵ and the ⏳
This was taken (Oct 20, 2008) with an Olympus FE370 (point and shoot) in Barrancas Del Cobre, MX near the Hotel by Divisadero where Jesse James/Kid Rock stayed on their bike trip.

Adventurer
Procrastinating on Engine Repairs

Spent the morning down at the Alameda Point Antique Fair a few weeks ago while procrastinating on my engine repair project. Thought I'd share these, hoping for some comments.

These shots come from a bin of old typewriter keys.

Thought this was interesting, never seen a typewriter key that had been modified to hold a photograph. Kind of looks like the kid in the forground is picking her nose. If I went through all the effort to insert a picture into a typewritier key I might have picked a different shot. It must have had meaning to the original owner.

This one was from a bin of old watch parts

and the final shot of the day is of a Gull coming in after my bag of Kettle Corn!

I hope these meet the expected content of this thread.

Went to the train show in Ogden Ut a week or so ago. I got these.

From the only remaining WW2 hospital car left in existance that is totally original.

Ok, here's one from today that's less "scary."

And another from the fall that I just finished prepping for a print.

My first entry...

First off, a couple comments to help describe this one...

  • I don't fancy myself as a photographer other than for family memories. However, I am pretty much a perfectionist, so when I learn something, I try to apply it. This is the case on the 1/3 rule that someone mentioned in the photography forum a few weeks ago.
  • My son and I were in Colorado this past week and had an opportunity to visit the Great Sand Dunes National Park. Previously in the week, we broke a front left axle shaft (I'll put that story up somewhere else). We hiked to the top of the highest dune in the park, fixed lunch on top, hiked back down, and had a couple of warm (50*) hours left to fix the truck. We started down the trail to Medano Pass and saw a good spot to pull over and swap out the shaft. It took a couple hours. We packed up the tools and broken parts and proceeded down the trail which we knew was closed past Castle Creek.
  • I was hoping to get a bit farther, not knowing how far Castle Creek was from the visitor center, but when we rounded the corner, not long after fixing the axle, this is what we saw. I immediately backed up to get the best combination of tree, mountains in the background, and desert scenery I could, and told my son "This is going to be my new desktop photo".
  • As soon as I got home, I realized that it would be easier to see the icons on my desktop if I flipped the photo right to left, and then darkened it a bit. The first photo below is before the flip and darkening, raw digital taken with a Canon Powershot A540 at about 5:45 p.m.
  • The second is after the flip. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.
