New guy checking in - so I thought I'd share an image or two by way of introduction.

I just picked up an 80 series LC which will arrive here in Portland next month as a base for my exploring the planet with a camera vehicle. In the mean time I'll be reading, learning and asking all kinds of stupid questions :sombrero:

No such thing as a stupid question, Graeme, the only stupid question is the one you never asked cause probably one is too embarrassed to ask, cause you will never know the answer! So ask a way!

BTW, Why is that places that are far away from ones back yard end up being so photogenic? or am I the only one thinking this? Perhaps it is that we do not see this environment so often and hence it looks so more exotic!

Nice shots, must be getting close to being a pro by now...

Thanks for the warm welcome - I'll definitely be asking questions

Nathanael - I'm also shooting large format at times (the Haleakala is a cropped 4X5) - nice way to work and lets you do things you just can't do on a digital.

Not pro or anything close to it - it's purely a hobby to keep me out of the pub at this time

Once the :safari-rig: arrives I'm looking forwards to exploring Oregon a bit more - plenty to see an shoot here without having to get on a plane.

I love the color contrasts that you can capture at the Dunes. Makes it easy to get great photos! Nice job Gary!

Here are some shots from a Ghost Town we visited in North Western Arizona. Vulture Mine Ghost Town

I like to get the usual shots of the entire scene, but I'm addicted to finding little pieces to shoot that most people probably walk right past.

Here are some of my favorite

This one was sort of an accident. My wife and I were sitting in different rooms when I noticed her move in the reflection of this old mirror. I told her to stop and I framed her in the dusty reflection

Seawall at sunset.

I went out for a canoe ride after dinner tonight, upon returning while pulling up to the seawall, I was presented with this lovely graphic. Funny how ugly can sometimes be beautiful.

Trevor, your recent abstract works are really unique. You do a wonderful job of "making something out of nothing." Water has been very good to your portfolio.

Pat, I really like the way you use soft light to get the very most out of little things. Nice compostions and captured moments.
