AT Chaser vs. Horizon / Pros and Cons?

Here's a primer of what the walls will look like. This photo was at Trophy last year. The awning is a 2.5 meter, so a bit longer. The tent has the shower skirt option on it as well. I think M&M have really got something there with the awning/rec vee panel option. It adds a whole other dimension to the chaser. I already have dibs on #2.:wings:

This would be great! Too bad Fiamma doesn't offer a smaller version of their cabana that they offer for their larger awnings...for the 35.

I'm glad to hear I'm not alone in the tough decision process to choose between a Chaser or Horizon. Although ~400lbs heavier my reasons pretty much align with DaktariEd. Most of the time I will probably not be on extreme trails with the AT so the extra weight trade off is worth it considering the ease of access to the side boxes. My tow vehicle is an '07 Wrangler Unlimited auto with 4.10 gears and 33's so I am contemplating an upgrade to 4.88s but in the meantime I hope the weight of a "loaded" Horizon won't be overburdening the jeep on trails. I would expect a loaded Horizon with full supplies to approach 2K lbs maybe a little more - any thoughts on this?

A fully loaded Horizon is a little tough on a Jeep.....its not bad but on steep grades, just be prepared to take your time. I averaged a whopping 22mph over the Tioga Pass from Lee Vining earlier this summer. Proper gearing is a must...4:88's and 33's will be ok but if you want to go to 35's...you'll need 5:13's.
