AT/OJ Open House! October 9th, 2010.

You're invited to our open house event at the AT & Overland Journal HQ. This one promises to be one of the most interesting to date. As per usual, there will be a lot of interesting like minded adventurers in attendance and the cool vehicles that take them there. We also have special events lined up:

Martin Canyon/Smiley Rock Trail Rehab: Join Mark and his tireless crew and the National Forest Service to clean up one of the most popular technical trails in Arizona. This trail has suffered from many unauthorized off shoot trails and ensuing erosion over the years. Now is our chance to preserve our privilege to continued use. To learn how to participate and give back, follow this link: http://expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=47533

BBQ: We will be flipping burgers and serving up ice cold sodas & chips until they run out to feed the hard working folks on the Smiley Rock Clean Up crew & others who show up to join the festivities.

Mongol Rally: Scott Brady, one of the most respected Overland adventurers, freshly returned from his latest escapade of competing in the Mongol Rally will be offering up a slide show and live commentary of his adventures on this wacky event in some of the remotest regions of the globe. Successfully completing this event, in a Suzuki Jimmy no less, is an amazing accomplishment. http://expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45090&highlight=mongol+rally

Safari Pacific: Back from Central America, the first leg of his around the world odyssey, Travis Schanafelt will share his first in a series of films about his ambitious endeavors. This is a world premier! Don't miss it. See it and meet the dude! www.safaripacific.com

JK/J8 Habitat: You've followed the development on the Portal, now see it in person, touch it, experience it, before the rest of the world. This awesome product will change the way 4x4 is perceived for years to come. Featured on a Jeep J8 platform with an interior kit by AT, this is one cool rig. http://www.adventuretrailers.com/jkhabitat.html

Adventures from the Trail: Clint Rounsavall is one of the more earnest and interesting people we know. He has traveled the globe , built and raced drag cars & motorcycles, founded the most successful global Jeep Liberty club and seen more of the Southwest in excruciating detail than most. Clint has recounted his life's adventures on two wheel s and four in his book “Adventures on the Trail”. His folksy style makes his book an everyman's must read. Meet the man; get an autographed copy and read the book. URhereGPS: GPS units are the mainstay of the modern Overland traveler. There are lots of software solutions out there. They tell you where you are in a crosshair however none of them tell you whose jurisdiction you are under and what rules to follow. Not knowing, in North America, could cost you in fines untold. Wayne Monger, founder, developer and former Forest Ranger from URhereGPS will demonstrate their new product, designed to keep you knowledgeable and out of trouble. www.urheregps.com

Cricket Trailer: Architect/Designer Garrett Finney, professor of architecture, furniture designer, blacksmith and consultant for NASA is going to bring his new prototype Cricket trailer design for show & tell. This very interesting new trailer concept is being evaluated for potential adaptation to Overland use by AT. www.crickettrailer.com

This will be on the tail end of the fall Overland Training course, so those attending the class should plan on sticking around for the fun.

Jim it is super cool to know you will be so far from home and so near the Overlanding Epicenter that Prescott has become.
