Aussie truck campers

I am strongly considering having one made custom up here in BC. They really do provide all the answers I am looking for. I wonder on custom fabrication costs though.

Capacity. Most are made for compact/midsized truck platforms, but our North American truck offerings in those segments don't have the weight capacity.

They clash with truck nutz....

UTE ltd, sells something similar...no need to go custom. Importer is in Seattle, close to you.

before i bought my most recent shell, i considered doing this. They weigh a tremendous amount. I think in OZ they put them on 1 tons.

The campausa setup is sick.
Was that setup a one off or do they sell them?

That particular setup I believe was a one off they did. They tend to do a lot of custom work, but shouldn't have any problem making one for any vehicle. The flatbed Chris (the owner) did on his Unimog has some very cool features.

Why is it that these truck caps have never caught on over here?

Very cool. A little bit like an Aussie panel van.

I wish there were options like this in the US. About the nearest I've been able to find is the Tufport; but they run about $7K and it's another $1500 or so for shipping from British Columbia.

I wish the old Callens were still available.

Anybody know of a similar unit? Basically a big oversize camper topper but without all the RV stuff...
