Note To First Timers:

If you are planning on heading down to pit or even watch. Be prepared for anything and everything! Bring warm clothes, cold clothes, rain clothes, etc...

Also, Lighting, this is VERY often over looked as people think they are ok since they are the 2nd pit and it "should be light out" before they get here, this is NEVER the case!!

After each race, you hear several stories on RDC of how the big $ teams humped the pooch, didnt bring proper lighting because they were near the starting line and werent able to use all their fancy tools cause they couldnt see anything, because their race rig had mechanical failure at RM 15 and their rig is 6 hours behind.

Granted, this is only a 200 mile race, but the Class 3 trucks start later in the day and therefore finish quite a bit later, the last 2 big races in baja had HUGE bottlenecks/delays and such and even the biggest, fastest guys were 3-4 HOURS behind schedule, many of which limping to the pit that had their lightbars!

Make sure you are prepared for anything and everything! Cold, Heat, Rain, Chupacabras, etc....

Also, if you are pitting, make sure your pit chief has first aid training for Chupacabras attacks! There were several spotted during prerunning!

I assure if you come down and are properly prepared you will have the time of your life and be instantly hooked and immediately checking online and asking around when the next race is!

This is normal, its called "Bajaitis" it can be treated with a simple over the counter oinment but unfortunately it never goes away! :D

Hope to see you all down there!

Scott,

I would love to help at one of the pits. I guess either #1 or #3 since #2 is full. I am an O.k. wrench. I just did a full-tune up and and most of the hoses on my 80, including the PHH. Anyway...:sombrero:

Go Team!!!

I cannot pre-run with you guys though. That's Memorial Day weekend. I'll be chasing people on waterbased moto's.

I will be there for the 500 and my first baja experience. I'm trying to quickly bring myself up to speed on the toyota 4wd's and 4.0 (since I now own one :wings: ).

I'm sure there are plenty more qualified than I (and this is my first time in baja/at a score event) but if you have trouble filling the pit roster I'd be more than glad to pitch in. I'm not a full time mechanic but I'm pretty competent. If you need me lmk, otherwise I'll be there to cheer you on :safari-rig: .

I'm coming down. Will camp out @ one of the pits, maybe with #3 since no one has joined Jonathon yet. I am a novice wrench, but can help with logistics if you need it.:sunflower

Depends whether the race is a loop or a straight shot this year, they usually switch it around from time ot time.!

As of yet, they havent announced which it will be :)

I can't recall when the SCORE Baja 500 was a "straight shot". When was that?

The B1K has for a while been a loop and point-to-point on alternate years, but I must have missed the 500 that was a P2P.

This year's SCORE Baja 250 (formerly the SCORE San Felipe 250) ended up being a P2P after the fiasco over in San Felipe concerning squabbles with the ejideros but that was rare.

Though SCORE hasn't put up the 500 map yet, I'll bet that it will be a loop from Ensenada--either clockwise or counterclockwise--that will include Mike's Sky Ranch and probably a visit to Valle de Trinidad.

This is just a 'hunch' though since I'm not privy to SCORE's inner sanctums.
