Day one:

Wow, so many stories to report from an adventure like this. It’s a little daunting trying to remember every experience. So I'm going to break the trip into each day. I hope you enjoy “riding” along with us through a pretty crazy journey.

Here’s a little bit of the basics of the adventure.
What: 1000 mile, Seven day, off-road trip following the smoother roads of the Baja 1000 race course.
Who: Chris on the moto, Big Dougie Doug and Mongo Mike in FJ’s, and Craig in the 4Runner.

Day one’s plan was to cross the border in the morning and finish in Gonzaga Bay on the Sea of Cortez. Ten miles after crossing the border we jumped on the Comparde trail to Valley T where we had lunch. After lunch we headed to El Diablo Dry Lake then to Morelia Junction, across Zoo road and into San Felipe. From San Felipe we drove a couple of hours south into Gonzaga Bay for our first nights sleep. Total Mileage of day one from the border to the hotel was 300 miles.

Thanks for the link to the blog...I will look at it at home as the server here at work has issues with some websites.
Glad you got some of it posted here though.
Looks like a nice mix of rigs & folks...and of course Baja is always a great trip.

For day two we awoke to a beautiful Gonzaga Bay sunrise. The staff at Alfonsinas had made fresh hot coffee waiting for us as we soaked up the view.

The plan for the day was to drive to Punta SanFran on the 2012 Baja 1000 race course. The route would take us past Coco's Corner and into the Calamujue wash. After the wash we would head into L.A. Bay for lunch and onto Punta SanFran to camp.

The terrain after Coco's started to get really interesting. We had crossed into the infamous Cardon forrest that Baja is famous for. The road was lined with Boojum trees, Chollas and Cardons but thankfully everyone navigated perfectly and we easily covered 250 miles. . We arrived at Punta SanFran where we set up camp as dinner was prepared for us. Fresh caught fish tacos! After dinner we built a fire in the sand and watched the stars. As we were laying there we could see what we thought was the stars reflection in the surf. Upon further inspection it turned out to be bioluminescence from phytoplankton. I tried really card to capture them with my camera but they were too faint. We fell asleep to the mellow sounds of the Sea of Cortez dreaming about cave paintings and tacos.

Fantastic pics Ryan, anxious for more. Would love to join you for a Baja trip one of these days, perhaps a little less chaotic than B1K week :D

I've heard about and seen photos of people in this same area and it has never caught my attention as someplace I wanted to go. Your photos moved it near the top of my list. Looks fantastic. I think it's time to get the fridge installed and start making plans!
