Great find Jeff. You seem to have the discounted jeep part area. Here everything commands a premium. Awesome and looks great.

Oh man, looks who's talkin' - you get more deals than anyone I know. Next I want an awning deal like you got!

Ill be moving the water pack thats on the driver side to the rear rack and have 2 back there for 5 gallons of water on board, and use the drivers side plate for a second gas can.

These mounts are a great design, solid, and easy to install.

I have 2 weimaraners(considered large breed by AKC) that go everywhere with me, especially on trips. They both fit in the back of my 2 door with a fridge. Here is a pic of one of them with the fridge. It is a whynter 45qt. I also have a trailer that everything else goes into though...

Never owned a Weim but that is one other breeds that makes me smile and laugh. Good friend of the family had a pair and I run into a few at the dog park, great dogs.

My girl is a mutt.

I don't plan to permanently install the Garvin rack on the Jeep because I plan to use it on both the JK and the LJ. To make it easy and convenient to put it on either Jeep when I need it, and to store it out of the way, I'll hang it from the garage door rails. When I need it on the Jeep I'll drive that Jeep under it and drop the rack onto the Jeep. Since it will install to either Jeep with simple Surco Cherokee rail adapters, securing it to either Jeep will just be a matter of moving the Surcos to the appropriate position for that particular Jeep.

I haven't installed the Surco brackets to mount the rack to the Cherokee roof rails yet, but I also set the rack on the LJ yesterday to check the size on that Jeep:

The guy I bought the Wilderness Rack from also threw in an unidentified tailgate rack, anyone know who made this? A quick check with a TJ spare carrier shows that the holes line up, so it'll bolt right up to a TJ. I don't need it but the guy wanted me to get it out of his yard so I did him a favor and took it.

Yeah, you both do pretty awesome on scoring deals. :victory:
I like the basket. Would like to do something similar with the Scout, only using "quasi-period correct" gutter mount rails. :)
(See, you guys are still a good influence on my wallet... ;))

I've designed both Safari Cabs to accept gutter mounts but since I can easily mount the basket with Surco mounts on the Cherokee rails and they're a lot less expensive than Garvin gutter mounts, I'll go with the Surcos. But I can understand wanting to be period correct on the Scout.

A while back I posted about an idea I had for door hinges to match the HD Tailgate Hinges I designed. I fabricated a prototype and showed the prototype to the company that makes the tailgate hinges. They liked the idea and signed up for it right away. Today I heard from them that preproduction versions are underway and should be ready by the time I meet with them again in less than two weeks. I'm looking forward to seeing how they've translated my prototype into a production product. My home-made prototype:

Today the company sent me this photo of preproduction hinges installed on one of their test Jeeps. They say they fit well and they like how they look (I like the look too). Should be in production soon.

Now that the door hinges will be in production soon, it's time to think about accessories for them - just like the tailgate hinges, they're designed to make it easy to attach accessories. Some of the things that could mount to the hinges - fold down steps to make it easier to reach things on a roof rack, a HiLift jack, a rifle mount, Rotopax container mount... any other ideas?

Some of those things exist already for the factory door hinges, but in all cases you have to unbolt the hinge to install the accessory, and unbolt the hinge again if you want to remove the accessory. With these HD door hinges, the accessories mount independently of the hinge bolts, so you can easily install/remove things without messing with the hinges themselves.

You know what would be a great addition to these is an adapter to cheaply be able to mount spring retractable folding motorcycle pegs something like these: http://www.motosport.com/product/?a...ww.google.com%2F&pssource=true&segment=badger

Putting a couple of these on the rear door hinges would allow easy access to a roof rack or basket if the hinge support is strong enough to pass the 250lb gorilla test in my case. Maybe if the load were distributed across both hinges?

Probably not ideal placement really but an antenna mount on the top hinge for a cb or ham whip would be better than on the rear bumper at least. Still not great though for propagation depending on if it's a half or full door.

It would be a novel spot to put a GoPro/trailview camera or oddly placed rock light mount too!

If you wanted to branch out into urban warfare tactical accessories, maybe a tube steel arm support a la the helicopter door gunner machine gun pintle to allow rear passengers to engage on the move from a stabilized mount? (Ok maybe not a large market there on the civilian side, but I'm darn sure it would be a lot of fun to watch)

Great news and congrats on what I'm sure is going to be a hot selling item, probably second on my list after the tailgate hinges I'm planning on ordering next month.

Oh my! A steady cam or gimbal mount for another type of shooting?

As always very nicely done.

Those are very nice pegs, but a little pricey - how about a mount for something like these, which start at about $12?

Or even less expensive would be something like the Kargo Master or Smittybilt steps, those are just a bent piece of steel on a bolt:

A light mount, camera mount and/or antenna mount would be very easy to do, in fact all could be the same part. Maybe a generic bracket would be a good idea, you could mount a light, and antenna or a camera or something else.

Yes maybe a lot of fun for the one person who might want one of those. Probably I'll pass on that one :).

Thank you.
