This morning I shot the flat fenders with Deep Cherry Red Pearl base coat color followed by clear.

Probably will reinstall them on the Jeep tomorrow.

They came out stunning!

Thank you! I'll install them tomorrow and post pictures so people can debate whether they like the original black fiberglass or the color match paint better :).

The clear has cured enough to handle so I took the fenders off the painting stands and removed the masking which kept the red paint off the black fiberglass on the inside. I could install them now but I'll let the clear cure overnight and do it tomorrow.

Oh man I think they are going to look great when they are installed. The paint job looks outstanding.

Thanks! My goal is a finish that looks like it was applied at the factory when they painted the rest of the Jeep. We'll see when I install them tomorrow if I've matched it well enough :).

Knocked it out of the park! I wish Jeep would offer an overland wrangler optioned with these exact features alongside the rubicon package. Even as a limited run to commemorate an anniversary, and then have the components in the mopar catalog for enthusiasts to recreate. This looks like an OEM production in fit and finish (better in many respects than the OEM finish actually) , some smoothie wheels, a pair of limb risers, and an extended range fuel tank and the Africa concept would be available for all intents and purposes. What a fun project to watch, thanks for the many pictures and detailed descriptions.

Thank you very much! And thanks for your comment about it looking like an "OEM production", that was one of my goals - I wanted the design of the fenders, the integration of the fenders with the design of the JK, and the fit and finish to make the Jeep look like it could have come from the factory the way it looks now.

The flat fenders could be produced for a special edition fairly reasonably, production molds for them would cost a few thousand dollars at most.

Glad you enjoyed watching the project(s) :).

I got an email the other day from one of the companies that provided me with components for the fridge/kitchen project. In it they said: "Are you in a position to either send the protos or any drawings? If it is possible we’d like to feature this at SEMA." So I guess they're interested in maybe turning it into a product. I've been keeping them up to date on the progress of the project with periodic photos, so now I'll send them drawings and annotated photos of the components, and if after seeing that they need the prototype parts I'll deliver those to them.

I've suggested to them a component strategy for the product, consisting of a base system, an optional Molle panel/Rotopax/Rubican mount, and an optional additional fold-down side table. I did the following illustrations to explain the idea to them.

Any thoughts I should pass along to them as they decide if they are going to go ahead with the system?
