My Tacoma is not a daily driver.......It sits for a while between trips......I have a lot of money in Optima batteries....Just makes cents to keep the batteries fresh....

I'm sure we have a few trailer owners here that have a battery on board.....

Just wondering what battery maintainer brand people are using and how they like them??? Also...with having an Optima.....I'm sure i have to buy a maintainer that fits it??...or not???

:wings: I guess I'm just an old JC Whitney die hard, I've been using their Automatic 2 amp, Battery mainteners for a couple of years and they are FAIL-SAFE

They keep my Nissan Xterra Battery "topped" during the weeks, I don't use it and also my trailer, while it's IDLE

JC Whitney pt# ZX277910 $29.99

I have a battery condition meter on my trailer, that shows the amount of charge

I just leave mine on the 1 amp settings and it works great

Call the folks at Optima and ask; however, I don't think you'll need one so long as you're driving it/charging the batteries at least ever 6 months.

I'm getting this from their Maintenance and Storage info on their Technical information page.

I have used the batteryminder for 7 years on our Land Rover that unfortunately now spends a lot of its time in the garage. It has worked flawlessly, and kept the LR battery charged as well as a spare I have.

I am sure Mario at AT will chime in eventually but my Chaser has the Battery Tender Plus in it. Now AT installs the Charge Pro Series by Guest. I don't know why they switched but knowing them, nothing would have ever gone into one of their trailers without extensive testing. In my opinion, if they used it, you would be good to go.

You can maintain two batteries at once???

I have two....That would be nice instead of buying two units!

I use the Battery Tender Plus also.
I have several batteries I like to keep "pumped up." :REExeSquatsHL1:
My Cruiser primary, Cruiser secondary, and the trailer. Plus two other leftover car batteries sitting around in the garage. I hook up one battery for a week or two, then switch to another whenever I think about it.
Not high tech but it works.

Yep. I have dual batteries connected in parallel in my Chaser. Both stay charged and maintained together.

I installed a Schumacher 1.5 amp slow charge battery charger/maintainer.
This vehicle mounted onboard battery charger plugs in along with my cabin heater and engine block heater. The idea is to keep up with the parasitic loss I have from the inverter and maglight charger.
I mounted it behind the grill below the right headlamp assembly:

The brackets are included. I used self tapping screws to mount it. It was a little tight , requiring trimming the inside of the grille for clearance. Nothing drastic though. I plugged this into a 24" heavy duty triple outlet cord and ran the single cord out the frame horn.
With the grille installed I can see the LED status indicator in the gap between the headlamp and center bar.

Autozone has this charger for $26.99. It was out of stock, but could be ordered. Shucks had one on the shelf for $31.49. The heavy duty cord I used to plug them all into was $11.99 at Bimart. During the summer months I unplug the engine and cab heaters.

I use the Guest charge Pro 2 bank charger/maintainer in my trailer. No problems in about 5 years, and it is ignition safe and approved for use on yachts. This means it won't set-off and explosion from Hydrogen off gassing or fuel vapors.

I am using two 105 amp/hour flooded LA batteries to run pumps, lights, etc. They are over five years old.

No, I do it the low tech way. I switch between batteries about once a week or so.
