i have lived on the east side near Bishop for decades. in that time i have camped all over these mountains and have yet to experience an issue with bears. just follow the basic bear safety rules.
keep your site clean.
hang coolers at night if you must.
wipe down your fridge.
bears hunt with their noses!
black bears don't like to mess with dogs.
there is bound to be someone dumber then you in the campground that will attract all of the bears!
they scare off easy.
