Beater Wagon

I figured since I now have this PowerWagon as a daily beater that I'm going to repair and upgrade slowly, I may as well make its own thread.

It needs alot of little things, but for the price I paid, and the good bones, was well worth the effort. And I like to tinker, so win win.

This is as I picked her up at the previous owners home. Truck is a one owner, and he had a stack of maintenance records, but gave up a few months back when an evap issue came up, and that's where I come in. He was ready to move on, I was ready to move in.

Got it home and immediately started cleaning it up. It had really never been taken care of when it came to cleaning, so this will be an ongoing thing I'm sure, but I've started to clean up the paint slowly.

These are before and after shots.

Looking MUCH better now! But it's just a start. I'll have to take my time with it over a few weeks or month to get it right.

Next to take care of all the dust in this truck. This truck, as well as previous gens all the way back to 2009 have the port molded in for a cabin filter, but never actually came with one. So I ordered the Mopar charcoal filter, the Mopar cover, and cut and added it myself. Now thr cabin will get filtered air, and will keep the amount of dust intrusion down.

Then it had a shifter boot that was trashed. Took care of that while I was in there.

Now onto this Evap issue. I checked codes, only one found. Tested the front purge valve, it seemed operable. Tested the EVAP systems integrity pump, and that seemed the culprit. Quick swap and cleared the codes.

Next I needed to replace these door window felt strips. They were absolutely in terrible condition. Got some Mopar ones and replaced them with new.

Good job on the paint. You interested in working on my truck's paint? It is lucky to get washed once a year. I guess if I really cared I could find someone local. :)

Man I HATE doing paint correction. I can do it, but this truck absolutely needed it. I've only gotten about half the truck done now in the last 5 days. ALOT still left to do.

Yeah that is why I don't do it. Serious work. Props to you for doing it.

So far that's it. I'm collecting parts to fix and replace the issues it has. One thing to do soon is the exhaust leak that's common on the 5.7 hemi. I got the BD Diesel 5.7 fix kit in. I'll probably tackle that next week. And I have a new Mopar seat cushion and seat cover in, as well as a pigtail to replace the electrical taped A/C compressor plug, that I'll replace this weekend. Then on to replacing all the lubes and suspension parts.

The suspension will be fun. I'm collecting some good parts, already got the Carli extended arms. $350, and I'll rebuild them soon for no cost. 😋

excited to see the progress here.

I have been considering a 2007-2013 PW myself.
It would be a work truck / daily driver for me. I do about 25-30k a year and half of that is all dirt.
I have always loved the older quad-cab.
I think the 5.7 hemi is a great platform if taken care of.
Congrats

Thank you! And that's what this will be. Literally will be my daily beater and fun truck for stuff that doesn't involve our traveling that the Cummins/Hallmark will handle. Just jump in and go anywhere kind of truck, as it should be. And agree on the hemi. This one has 214k on it. I don't see why it won't do another.
