Well I’m thinking it might have been the air filter. I’m embarrassed and tentatively relieved. Old one didn’t look bad, but with the new one in the turbo sounds back to normal and the few miles I’ve driven have back to normal economy. Still going to find a shop to pull codes in the morning and align front end...noticed one of the front tires is wearing more on the outside.

That's good!! Dusty roads can plug them in a hurry, even if they look decent.

Hope that's it!

Sounds like a similar thing that happened to me. Our 2012 Tiger which had the Ram 3500 chassis nearly didn't make it out of the white rim trail.
Went in with a full tank of fuel and everything running fine. At the end the engine was gasping no power and almost out of fuel. Once out we went straight
to the car wash, pulled the air filter and hosed it out. Red mud was the result. It ran fine afterwards. Glad I put a K & N filter in. Probably could have washed it out
on the trail.

Nothing like a little campground wheel alignment to start the day

Shame on me for waiting until the front tire started wearing funny to do this...

Well...we tried to leave Whitehorse yesterday. Truck still didn’t seem right so had the codes pulled by a local diesel shop and they diagnosed a clogged dpf system.

Getting a new dpf in Yukon was going to take some time and serious $$$. So:

I was able to working a parking lot and get this stuff off and a new giant Donaldson muffler on. Diesel shop was able to tune it this morning and we are on our way this morning!

North to Alaska!

Can you give a report and review of the tires once your trip is over?

I imagine the DPF delete solved your issues.

Sure thing. Pretty pleased so far. A little bit of a howl on highway but better than the worn mud Tires I had on before.

Had to spend another night in Whitehorse after pulling codes on the truck and fearing a clogged dpf filter. With help of my assistants I removed the dpf and put on a large Donaldson muffler. Route 13 Diesel was very helpful and got a tune on the truck so we could head out again. I am babying the truck as I don’t want to fry the clutch with the new power . I accidentally bumped the throttle once going over a bump and it’s clear the dpf removal and tune has woken the beast.

The drive from Whitehorse to the US border was beautiful. Really interesting to see the boreal forests.

Stayed at a great campground at Deadman lake. They have free canoes and fishing was awesome. Oldest son caught his first two fish

This tressel was built in 8 days in 1910!

Also saw this cool land train at the transportation museum in Whitehorse.

Ran into our friends Tommi and Raymone who we’d met back at deadman lake in their amazing 78 series Cruiser. They’ve been traveling seven years in this truck...Africa, Australia, America’s. Great company. And being a Cruiser addict I was a bit envious.

Today we retraced our steps out the McCarthy road

And then drove down the Richardson highway to Valdez through the rain.

Youngest caught his first wild fish from the bank. Fun times.
