...I've been involved with some longevity high speed highway testing and wrapping that cover to keep it under control virtually eliminates wear on long runs. Add some good UV protection (303 works well) and you will greatly improve the lifespan of the travel cover.

I heard about this testing and it seems it was surprisingly successful, I'd love to hear more when available.

Fixed it for you ;)

The hard sided fiberglass covered ones are nearly impervious to the elements.

Semantics, shell vs. cover. Nearly impervious doesn't cover snow load cracking the fiberglass :p

x2 on a good cover. I have the gen 2 mbssa and can tell you that a few branch rubs when wheeling will rub off the protective covering and it will get damp inside when raining hard enough. Is there not a new cover built from better material i thought I had read up on it awhile back?

Two winters ago during our Christmas break from work (I had 16 days off) and we had a big winter storm come through that dumped a lot of snow on us that stuck around for about a week.

I prepared for it by stocking up on extra groceries, and my rig did not move for around a good 10 days or so.

The Maggiolina shell had around 1' of frozen snow on it (not sure how much that weighs) the whole time, and after the thaw the shell was not damaged in anyway.

Suppose to get a nasty winter this year according to the weather experts, so if we get a lot this year, I will sweep some of the snow off to be on the safe side.

What I like about the Maggiolina tents too is after our very wet winters and springs here, when I go to open up the tent to take the sheets out to wash them, there is no dust/dirt inside or wetness at all.
They seal as good as they state on their website.

The Howling Moon stuff is amazing. A bit pricey but it will last forever. Mombasa stuff is great value. I am building a hard case for my 3 man RTT as my roof is fairly high up and zipping that bloody thing can get old. Once I have finalized the design I'll post it. I used an older Mombasa going from Zim to Cape Town and on the first night found it (RTT) to be full of dust and only to later learn it had been on the same Landy for two straight years. Thing worked quite well except for me trying to find my way in the dark with one too many Castles at dinner.
