Was up in Prescott AZ today so I stopped by AT and pick up a Max Coupler and a two ft receiver tube. The new Max Coupler has a slightly different design then the old style. I will post some pic later. I will also need to get some grease for it as well.

Today was a great day! Not only did I get the front reciever hitch put on my trailer, I learned to weld!!! I have always wanted to learn. My neighbor was nice enough to help me out, but he let me do all the cutting and welding. I will not win many awards for best looking welds and I see a few places I will touch up later, but I DID IT!! I am so stoked. Here are a few pictures. I only took picture after paint to hide some of the ugle stuff.

Well, after all the work getting the tongue box done, I think I am going to move the battery inside and use the tongue for the tire, water and fuel. I will just move all the stuff from the box to the inside cabnet. I will need to drill a whole for the plug to the charger. Do you think this is a good idea?

Welding Continues

The neon's stabilizers were about 9" to short. I did not want to carry around blocks to make up the difference. Being that I just learned to weld, off the the metal store I went. I cut off the original feet, added 9" and welded everything back together. I wanted to add support to stabilizer when stored, so I added some turn buckels to help out when traveling. Here are the results:

This was the first one.

Can anyone find the one I had to cut and switch the foot around?

Nice rig combo. I can see a lot of wives (and us) getting rather envious of that lil set-up.

I like the idea of having the tire and fuel on the tongue. I would also try to keep the battery on the tongue as well. Batteries can and will leak no matter what kind they are or how well they say they are "sealed". Also trailers do tend to bounce around a lot more then the vehicle pulling it. The smoothest ride would be on the tongue or closest to the front of the trailer as possible.

Bill,

Thanks for the input. I have moved the fuel and water and tire to the front. I did move the battery to the inside, but and thinking of moving it back outside. Here are the updated pictures:

I really dig the way your getting this thing setup....
It looks like you might have room to move the battery back in front but I would leave it inside for a while and see what happens.

The legs look factory and I think the turnbuckle is a great idea for making sure things stay where you put them.

Now let's get out of town and test it out!

Lance,

You name the day and time. It needs some dirt on it.

Mark,

I have not had the best luck with Jerry cans, so wanted to try out the RotoPax. Lets just hope my welds hold.

Mudbutt,

I was thinking the same thing, but they are welded top and bottom onto the inch and half cross bar and screwed on. The bolts are very close to the bar. I think it should hold pretty well, but we will see.

I was impressed with Waymon's welding and setup on our quick overnight run...we hit plenty of washboard and mild trail stuff so he should be happy that things will hold up.

Now we just need a week long adventure to really test things out :)

Had a few more additions and some pic of a recent overnighter:

Table-Payson 003.jpg

This is my new mount for my table. I will add something up front to keep from moving forward while travel.

Campsite on the rim.

I mounted my Front Runner can on front as well because I love the spout. The spout can be used while on trailer.
